Some random comments about the media, Russert et all:
California's first lady was exceptional commemorating Tim Russert on Sunday morning--even more so because it was refreshing to hear a (in her case former) journalist talk publicly, on air, about faith. The sky didn't fall, and the media was (and is) better for it.
Patriotism was and is alive among key media voices. The touching moment for me, was when Tom Brokaw commemorated Russert by quoting the now famous "what a country." Baby Boomers have a unique patriotism; Brokaw was moved to tears echoing how much Russert loved this country. A welcome acknowledgment from the media.
My prediction for the next host of Meet the Press is Gwen Ifill, formerly with NBC and currently at PBS Newshour and Washington Week." If you saw how she delicately addressed the Imus issue as a compliment to Tim, you know why she is a great candidate for that job.
And the coup de grace: Ben Bradlee, fabled Washington Post editor talking Friday on MSNBC's air about Russert, saying he used to watch Meet the Press every Sunday until he "got a house in the country." Uh, yeah. Right.

My bet is Chris Matthews to replace Russert but even if it is Gwen Ifill, you know it will be another liberal.
If they are gonna go liberal moonbat, they should go with Ariana Huffington! (Matthews seems too angry, lately.)
