Daily News Roundup - 2008

Orange County Board of Supervisor's Process Management
On the hills of a disastrous human resources process to find a new Sheriff, the Orange County Board of Supervisors, following the example of the Coto de Caza Board of Directors’ Supplier Management Process, on Tuesday hired CGI and Aeris, without evidence of competitive bids for database management job at a cost of $1.9 million.
Worse yet, the job was apparently necessitated by the board’s technology management incompetence when after 11 months, Dallas contractor ACS, which is in charge of the county's Data Center, was found to be so far behind on a technology project that an replacement was hired – apparently the board took 11 months to figure they had an emergency on their hands! Apparently the county learned a lessons - the Coto de Caza board of directors fired the CHP without suitable alternative, then hired a private security firms without evidence (~$1.3 million/year) of due diligence!
After allowing an emergency to evolve for 11 months, the county now expects to be testing the new system in five months!
Is the Coto de Caza board of directors now working for the county?
