"Sandra Hutchens says she wants to ensure that those issued licenses by her indicted predecessor have a good reason"
While I think its good that she's reviewing CCW permits issued by the former corrupt Sheriff Mike Carona, I'd like her to spell out what her policy is going to be regarding issuing new CCW permits. I believe she should implement a "shall issue" policy for new permits so long as people aren't criminals, mentally incompetent, and can demonstrate good marksmanship. This business of only handing out permits to people because of their hazardous occupation or that they be able to show "good cause" is completely unacceptable. "Good cause" in my book the last time I read the US Constitution is the 2nd Amendment.
Ditto what Allan said. Forty states are "Shall Issue" and this could be a way for Hutchens to be a leader in this arena. Carona's CCW policy was actually progressive after the favoritism was taken out of it. Hopefully what has been considered good cause in the past at OCSD will continue and in fact be expanded.
What part of "right to bear arms" don't people understand?
no, No, NO, d'Anconia.
It's the right to bare arms. That's why it's colloquially known as "the short sleeves amendment." The Founding Fathers were very fashion forward....
