Is that all there is? OCR

After six years and millions of dollars spent, an out-of-commission balloon ride is all that has been developed at the Great Park.
The Register devotes most of its front page and two inside news pages to a long standing complaint - too much is being spent on politically motivated PR for a park that does not exist as yet.
"It's one thing to do outreach , but we have done that over and over. We need to build a park." - Irvine Councilwoman Christina Shea.

I have to agree with the article....the measure was passed, there are millions of dollars...build the damn park already! Yes Agran you are spending too much money on PR....why does it need so much PR? As I said the measure was passed.....does not matter what the PR does - the park is supposed to go up period regardless of public opinion. It is not supposed to be a bunch of companies making profit off of it....where is that park??? What a phoenminal waste of money and mismanagement.
and $4 million a YEAR to run a big, fat orange balloon....yuck what a waste
There's actually a lot there, Len, if you happen to care about a) wise use of public resources and tax dollars and donations; b) open records (check out the section about the Forde & Mollrich contract); c) government efficiency; d) false promises made by government officials; and e) big contracts to politically favored folks. Of course, if one is more interested in defending a political ally and a past political campaign, then I see your point.
With the housing slump and Lennar taking it in the rear, just build the damn airport. Who wants to hang out in Irvine anyhow?
