Dick Ackerman For BOE? More Likely, Board of Supes

The San Francisco Chronicle has a story today (H/T Orange Juice) containing this passage
So I called Dick a few minutes ago to ask what the deal was.
"If you ask me if I'm running for Board of Equalization, the answer is I am considering it," he said.
Dick also pointed out that he opened the BOA campaign account before incumbent Michelle Steel opened hers or filed to run for the seat she won.
Ackerman cannot raise money for a seat for which he is ineligible to run, which means he cannot raise money through either a Senate or Assembly account. It's not unprecedented for politicians in Ackerman's situation to open accounts for BOE or other state office in order to continue fundraising while they ponder their options.
Translation: Dick Ackerman isn't going to run against Michelle Steel.
Dick also confirmed that he is considering running for the OC Board of Supervisors, either in the 4th District in 2010 (for which it is generally assumed Clerk-Recorder Tom Daly will run) or the 3rd District in 2012 (after Bill Campbell is termed out).
The San Diego Democrat filed a "statement of intention" with the Secretary of State's office to run for the 3rd District Board of Equalization seat held by Republican Michelle Park Steel.Dick Ackerman challenging Michelle Steel's re-election struck me as...well, unbelievable.
Steel has filed a statement of intention to run for a second term on the tax panel in 2010. State Sen. Dick Ackerman, R-Tustin, has filed paperwork for the office as well.

Ackerman would give Tom Daly a real battle. If Pringle is not going to run against Daly, why not Ackerman?
But I still hope a legitimate Latino candidate decides to run in a Supervisorial District that has a majority of Latino voters, albeit a slight majority.
I'm just glad to hear that Ackerman has discovered that there is life after politics - more politics.
