Congratulations, Patti Gorczyca

OK, that's a little premature since the Board of Supervisors won't formally appoint Patti to the OCERS Board of Retirement until tomorrow.
The previous attempt to appoint Patti ran into criticism at the beginning of month, resulting in it being continued until tomorrow.
There are four OCERS Board members whose terms have expired. The Chairman of the Board of Supervisors, with the approval of the other Supervisors, has the right to fill those seats with whomever he (or she) chooses.
In this case, Moorlach desires to replace OCERS Director Tom Lightvoet -- who has been a director for 17 years, opposes the Board of Supes lawsuit against retroactive 3-at-50 pension hikes, and has a business relationship with the AOCDS -- with retired county staffer Patti Gorczyca.
Good.
Kudos to Mr. Lightvoet for his service, but 17 years is a very long time and it's time to give some other citizen an opportunity to serve. And if the Board of Supervisors wants to replace OCERS directors who are hostile to a Board policy with directors who aren't hostile -- that is their prerogative.
It's my understanding the other three directors whose terms are expired will also be replaced in the near future. The new broom sweeps clean.
