Beth Krom Wants Toll Road Agency To Adopt "Living Wage"

The advantage of being a liberal is that when it comes to "social justice," money is no object -- especially when it's not your own.
Case in point: at today's meeting of the Foothill/Eastern Corridor Transportation Agency's finance committee, the topic of their janitorial contract arose.
This prompted Irvine Mayor Beth Krom to announce that they ought to imitate the progressive example of Irvine and impose a "living wage" requirement on all F/ECTA contractors.
That would mean anyone doing business with the F/ETCA would have to pay all their employees whatever F/ETCA considered too be a "living wage" -- regardless of whether those employees were actually working on F/ETCA projects.
Krom's brainstorm was met with a resounding silence -- understandable since the rest of the committee members are possessed of common sense and live in the real world.

Gas is at $4.50 a gallon and you still want to pay workers $7.50 an hour? What do these contractors pay an hour anyway?
Matt -- one more thing; Beth may be a Democrat, but I wouldn't call her a liberal. She is more of a centrist/moderate, but a liberal, no she is not.
If it walks like a duck and talks like a duck, it must be a...liberal, oh excuse me, the new fangled term, a progressive..
Sorry to ripoff Jeff Foxworthy, but....
If you want the government mandating the going rate of wages Dan...you might be a liberal.
