1st Supe District Watch: Hoa Van Tran's Democratic Mailer

Posted by: Tomahawk | 06/01/2008 11:07 AM

Thumbnail image for mailbox.jpgThis landed a few days ago from the Hoa Van Tran for Supervisor campaign.  I suspect this was geared only to registered Democrats.  It's funny how Hoa defaced Janet's lips and Dina's eyes.

I'm not impressed at all and what's with putting all the liberal icons from the Democratic Party on the piece?  I hope Hoa is not trying to compare himself to FDR or JFK.

His fellow Democrats in the DPOC and the folks over at theLiberalOC.com will probably have a big fuss over this.

Actually Tomohawk,
This literature piece was on each of the chairs atthe DPOC special meeting "called" by "Chair" of the DPOC. So basicaly almost evry Dem that reads this blog had already seen it. It is and was at the time accurate. Hoa had the DPOC atthe time, and was possibly going to lose that endorsement. However, the Past Tense "Endorsed" could be argued that he HAD BEEN endorsed even though it was taken away had that been the case from that meeting.

Chris Prevat said:

This mailer is just one more reason why Hoa Van Tran, and his band of gang-bangers led by Edgardo Reynoso, does not have my support.

He has no endorsements other than that of the DPOC.

It is also interesting to note; in order for a candidate to receive the endorsement of the DPOC they need to get 60% of the votes. The vote on Tuesday on whether to rescind the endorsement was 28 against and 17 in support. Based upon theat vote, Hoa Van Tran no longer holds the 60% support required for an endorsement.

While this is a technicality because it would take a majority vote to rescind, it is still worth noting.

Chris,
I thouht you id not hav ahorse in this race and neither endorsed nor opopsed nay candidates other than suporting a write in candiacy for Darryl Nolta?

It may also be interesting to point out tht you were th one touting that the rescinding of the Hoa Van Tran Endorsement needed only a simple majority. Now you are statin that les than 60% vote to keep the endorsement is evidence that he is not supported by the DPOC.

Your circular logic is dizzying.

To all:

For the last time: Chris is NOT shilling for Janet; he's choosing the best candidate for a non-partisan position. Besides, by attacking Chris' common-sense approach to this race you imply that somehow Chris (being a Dem) taints the candidacy of the front runner for the seat who just happens to be a Rep.

Why do on this blog continuously refuse the spirit of cooperation that's going to get your party member re-elected? Unless of course you guys are not as 'center-right' as you claim.

"he's choosing the best candidate for a non-partisan position."

So SMS are you acknowlegin that Chris Prevatt is choosing Janet Nguyen for Supervisor? Does Chris prevatt tell you that Janet is the best candidate?

lol I haven't a clue who Chris is voting for, that's the point. He seems to have arrived at 'choosing' Janet by process of elimination, just as many people have. But alas, it's a secret ballot. If Chris wants to tell you whom he's voting for, that's his business, but I know who he won't be voting for.

Another mailer from Hoa...where is Dina?

Frazier said:

He has two guys who ran for Pres and lost, a couple that are dead, then Clinton and Obama...like he is getting support from them?!

Whats funny is he doesn't have any local Dems on that mailer at all -- doubt they want ANYTHING to do with him.

Howard Dean? Really guy? Bet he is the only candidate in the country who used Dean as marketing tool for a race...hahhahahha

Where is Dina? I saw that segment on KTLA channel 5 where Dina was nowhere to be found. Was she dodging the interview? Is she not campaigning this week?

If you think you where polling at 90% and don't need to campaign, you're living in a dream. It's going to be hard to win if you stay behind the scenes. How do you expect to force a runoff, if you don't go outside? Dina, why do you prefer to hide?

Dina's doing great said:

Instead of oogling for the cameras, Dina is out reaching the voters who can vote for her-DUH!!! How many people in the 1st District do you think were actually in front of their TVs at the precise time that piece aired? Dina is a good lady with a good heart and mind. She has the maturity and the ability to work with everbody (unlike Janet Nguyen and her wacko fan club at Orange Juice). This will go into a runoff and Janet will lose in November.

Chris isn't voting for anyone because he doesn't even live in Orange County. Why doesn't he stick to politics in Long Beach where he lives?

For someone who doesn't have a horse in the race he sure does a lot of politicking in favor of Janet Nguyen. Chris should just admit he's a "Janny" already.

Sean -

Janet won by 7 votes in the special election after a recount with the first one having her down by 7, remember? Neither party has a serious candidate that can challenge her? I think she's adequate, so if you want to call me a 'Janny' too, then fine, but it beats backing Homie Van Tran or Dumb Dina. Rumor has it that they're both Trannies anyway.

There may be a runoff between Janet and Dina, but I doubt it. I think in the face of doubt, people will (rightfully) rush to the incumbent. Without polling data, we can only speculate until Tuesday.

Did anyone notice that Hoa Van Tran's photo has him in the same pose as Obama? That's a laugh!

Sean H. Mill said:

SMS,

Those rumors about them both being "Trannies" were started by folks like Chris Prevatt and Art Pedroza, both of whom are "Jannies". I would not put much stock into rumors started by them. At least Pedroza is an admitted "Janny". Prevatt should just admit it already.

Last week I received a mailer from Hoa's camp talking about education and intimating that he/via the BoS would have any control over school funding. Ironically in the same mail day I received a piece from the Westminster School District signed by the Superintendent, Sherry Nordheim, indicating that we can't let our schools fail; and talked about a recent survey where parents support about 7 or 8 objectives of the school district "overwhelmingly". Well I saw that survey and it was multiple choice, without a selection for "No" or "you spend too much money on students with no significant improvments now" etc. All the muliple choice questions were favorable to the school district. Apparently this was a poorly camouflaged attempt to support Hoa. There goes the school district spending public money to put out these flyers at election time again. They need some control!

Sean -

Sorry, but I just don't see it. Who are you supporting (just out of curiosity)?

SMS,

Where have you been? I support HOA VAN TRAN. I am not going to buy into the smear campaign or be scared of by the big, bad bullies of the DPOC.

Dina isn't oogling for the cameras?? Instead she is oogling for her political supporters. I am a longtime Santa Ana resident and I haven't seen her outreaching in the community since she announced she was running. Her mail isn't even in English! Exactly who is she outreaching to?
