SD33 Watch: County Employees Union Endorses Sidhu
Posted by: Jubal | 05/06/2008 8:07 PM
It's message: vote for Harry Sidhu in the SD33 GOP primary.
While the letter seems worded so as not to inflict collateral damage to Sidhu with conservative GOP primary voters, one can almost picture the "Sidhu is the union candidate!" hit piece coming to an SD33 mailbox near you.
For example, the letter states:
"Also, Harry has been a strong opponent of privatization-oriented ideas in which a public agency might divest itself of property to the enrichment of the few while the citizens are left holding the bag."
Nick is a great guy and a friend, but this probably does Harry more harm than good.
Both the Sidhu and Mimi Walters campaigns are have sent out mailers accusing each other of being liberals. In a low-turnout, conservative-dominated GOP primary, reminding voters of Harry's growing list of public employee union support gives the Walters campaign a leg up in making that radioactive union label stick.

I'm anxiously awaiting a press release from the Sidhu campaign rejecting this endorsement like the one rejecting the Log Cabin Republican endorsement.
Absent a rejection press release, we must assume Sidhu welcomes union support.
Looks like Assemblyman Van Tran blew it on this one, too.
Making endorsements based on retribution and not philosophy is not a good way to build a reputation.
1) Van's endorsement wasn't based on retribution. It was based on who he considers to be a better friend and a better Republican.
2) Van doesn't need to build a reputation. He already has one.
3) Mimi will lose.
Anon @ 7:15 AM,
Still sore over the Tran endorsement to Harry, huh? Give it up and live with it.
Anon.7:15, Assemblyman Van Tran is doing fine and he has solid support from conservative Republican community.
However, you need to worry about your Supe.Janet's reputation.
The short list of nick names she has earned from this blog are;
back stabber, loser, immature person, porno king, and now a stiffer!
What's this I see?
Assemblyman Van Tran considers union hacks like Harry Sidhu to be "better Republicans"? Please explain this one to me.
I have no clue what you're talking out of. I have a great respect for Mr. Van Tran. He does not need to build his reputation. If we had more representatives like him California wouldn't be in such hole.
