SD33 Mailbox: Mimi Lobs Another Shell Into Camp Sidhu

Posted by: Jubal | 05/12/2008 10:50 PM

The bitter mailer war between SD33 Republican primary rivals Assemblywoman Mimmi Walters and Anaheim Councilman Harry Sidhu continues. Surprise!

This mailer from the Walters campaign began landing in SD33 mailboxes today, although it hasn't yet slid through the mail slot of Casa de Jubal.

It's a continuation of the "Stop the smear!" theme of recent negative mail from the Wlaters campaign: menacing photos of Harry; declamations against "one of the most negative and deceptive political campaigns in orange County history"; a comparison of their records (naturally unfavorable to harry) and a long list of Mimi's endorsements:

Issuu.com can make the mailers look kind of weird, so click here to view a cleaner PDF of the mailer.

Mimi and Dave Gillard, I think it is wrong to list the LCR's (Log Cabins)on the negative side of the mailer.

It is a shame that our canidates have to advance themselves at the expense of others. I know Gay bashing polls well in the Primary, but is it right to treat another human poorly for political gain.

Look I support Prop. 22, but this kind of thinking against one group allowed the Jim Crow laws to last far longer than they should have.

I would hope to see some more puff and issue pieces or else we are no better than some insider hacks.

GRAND OLD PARODY said:

Yup. The gay bashing is getting tired. Yes, it plays well in the Primary, but polls show that the public in California is much more accepting of gays. (You can stand up for marriage without bashing gays.)

Walters is playing our standard GOP playbook (appeals to homophobia and racial prejudice) - a playbook that that works okay in safe districts. But it translates poorly to statewide office.

The standard GOP playbook just shows how unimaginative that we are, and why we will continue to be relegated to permanent minority status.

This leaves us rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic. That may be fine for those who get a seat, but the ship is going down fast.
