SD33 Mailbox: Harry Fires Another Broadside At Mimi
Posted by: Jubal | 05/06/2008 6:17 PM
I haven't done a formal count, but I think the ratio of of negative mail to positive mail in SD33 is about 1-to-1. It's going ugly, early.
The battle between these two well-funded campaign men-of-war continued. The HMS Harry Sidhu fired another broadside against The Mimi in the form of this attack piece popped through the mail slot of Casa de Jubal by the US Postal Service.
Based on the mail I've received thus far from both camps, I have a choice between two liberals who will do nothing to stop illegal immigration.

The Sidhu mailer reinforces the message of the Mountjoy robocall, and again points out that the Walters campaign several weeks ago apologized for mis-characterizing Sidhu's position on Anaheim term limits.
If the primary fight keeps going at this rate, come Election Day these two candidates are going to resemble Arthur and Mordred in the final scene of Excalibur (I'll leave it to campaign partisans to argue over who is who).

I'm not sure I agree with "ugly".
The campaigns are largely about issues at this point, and havent gone personal.
The accusation against Walters that she was absent for SB 60 in its illegal immigrant drivers license form is inaccurate. The Dems performed a "gut and amend" last year on that thing to set up some of the Reps. They gutted it to insert language on California compliance with the Real ID Act and then re-gutted it to insert the illegal immigrant drivers licenses back into the bill.
Of course, all of this is "inside baseball" and would likely take too long to explain to voters.
I guess my point was: Walters was probably smart to avoid voting on that bill at all, because voting against Real ID Act compliance would give the Dems a talking point while voting for it would give a Rep opponent a talking point.
