New Latino Political Blog: "Debate Sin Fronteras"

Posted by: Jubal | 05/21/2008 2:03 PM

This press release came over the transom a few minutes ago:

The Latino Report announced the launch of its contributing editors blogpen.  Debate Sin Fronteras will feature debate from the top Latino political consulting experts in California Democratic and Republican party circles -  Roger Salazar, Hector Barajas, Sam Rodriguez, Mike Madrid, and David Ferreira.

The Latino population continues to grow in every state in the country and as voter rolls swell with more and more Latino voters, The Latino Report will bring you the play-by-play, debate and insight into the campaigns and their strategies from the people that are running them. In addition to the blogpen The Latino Report will continue to to be your English and Spanish language bi-partisan news resource, which brings together all major Latino news into one centrally-located website.

This looks like a promising blog. I perused it briefly and spotted an interesting post by Mike Madrid on the upcoming Puerto Rico presidential primary.

Here are the bios of the Debate Sin Fronteras blogpen: Roger Salazar
Co-founder of the campaign and communications firm Acosta/Salazar and a former White House and Gubernatorial communications specialist, Roger brings a broad scope of media relations, public affairs and crisis communications experience at the national, state, and local levels to his clients and projects.  His past knowledge of media communications helps craft potent and strategic messages that sway public opinion.

Salazar was recognized as one of the "100 Most Influential Hispanics in America"  by  Hispanic Business Magazine  for his work on the Gore campaign in 2000 and the hot  "New Spinning Star"  for his work on Davis campaign in 2002 by California Political Week.  Currently Salazar is a senior advisor to the California Democratic Party Chairman, Art Torres.

Hector Barajas
As a senior Latino voice in California politics, Hector currently serves as the Republican Party Victory '08 Communication Director, the Communications Director for the California Republican National Delegation, and the Communications Director for the California Republican Party.  As a former student leader, regional banking officer for Bank of America, political field director, volunteer coordinator, and spokesperson for numerous campaigns, Hector merges his previous experience in the private sector with his current positions.

Hector has also served as a spokesperson for Congressman Jim Rogan, Los Angeles Mayor Richard Riordian, Bush/Cheney campaign (2004), and the Arnold Schwarzenegger for Governor campaigns (2003, 2006), Hector has appeared on the BBC, Univision, Telemundo, CNN, NBC, ABC, and CBS.  His commentaries have been published in the San Francisco Chronicle, North County Times, Pasadena Star News, Santa Clarita Signal, Hispanic Vista, El Salvador, Teleguia, La Prensa, and other publications.

Sam Rodriguez
President of KSR Strategy Group and a top-tier Democratic Political Consultant, Sam's career extends from Campaign Management, Public Relations, and Public Policy Advocacy to Political Advertising. He has over 18 years of combined political campaign and public administration experience at both the federal and state levels and is a registered lobbyist in the state of California.

During the 1990's, Rodriguez served as Assistant Director of Science for Communications and Education under three Secretary's of Energy, Hazel O'Leary, Federico Pena and Bill Richardson. In California, he served as Acting Undersecretary of Labor and Workforce for Governor Gray Davis and soon after was the Political Director of the California Democratic Party. In 2004, he was the Washington State director for John Kerry for President Campaign.

As founder of KSR Strategy Group, Sam Rodriguez has provided political commentary about issues affecting the presidential race, Latino community and voter targeting to major newspapers, radio and television news programs in both English and Spanish.

Mike Madrid
A nationally recognized expert on Latino demographics, voting patterns and communication strategies, Mike's insight has made him a guiding force in California politics for over a decade.

Mike has served as a political consultant for numerous campaigns at the state and federal levels, as well as in key media positions. Mike is the former Press Secretary for the California Assembly's Republican Leader, and a former Political Director for the California Republican Party where he launched groundbreaking Hispanic outreach programs throughout the state. In 1999 he was named Vice President of the San Antonio based political consulting firm Guerra DeBerry Coody.  His campaign and communications experience is supplemented by extensive academic work including a three-year study on Latino in voting trends. In January 2000, California Journal named Mike Madrid a rising star to watch. He was the only Hispanic to be named on that list.

David Ferreira
David Ferreira serves as a government affairs professional in Washington, DC and previously served as the Legislative Director for Congressman Joe Baca (D-CA), where he worked since May 2001. In this role, Mr. Ferreira was the principal legislative aide for a number of Congressman Baca‚s legislative successes, including a collaborative effort in 2002 to restore food stamp benefits to immigrants and blocking restrictive changes to anti-hunger programs on a yearly basis.  David has also served as an appointee in the Clinton Administration and as a legislative analyst for other Members of Congress such as retired Rep. Esteban Torres of California.

In the upcoming weeks these bloggers will be joined by other top Latino voices from Florida, Texas, the Southwest, and Washington DC.  You can visit Debate Sin Fronteras at: www.LatinoReport.com/blog.

This new blog doesn't sound like something that Harry Sidhu and Mimi Walters would support.

So the "Latino vote" pits itself separate from all other races... nice. Since when does skin color take precedence over important issues? How about an education on what's important to the country rather than a certain race.
What a crock.

I am here to inform all Latino voters about the fraud Barack Obama is. He engaged in sexism in the campaign and used the race card against the Clinton’s

We have a movement to stop the DNC from selecting it’s candidate rather than electing the candidate by the people.

We are called Puma’s, We stand for Women all across the nation. We stand for anyone who felt that Hillary Clinton was pushed out of the race by the liberal media and the DNC.

We aren’t asking you to support John McCain we are just simply asking you to avoid voting for Barack Obama at any cost. We need to send a message to the DNC that sexism won’t be allowed by anyone. Including Obama or the liberal pro Obama media. Vote Thrid Party, Write in Hillary Clinton if your state allows you too. Just nobama.

..Hillary Supporters, join the coalition of millions of voters who thought Barack Obama was selected by the democratic party…and not elected by the people of our nation.

Is it reasonable to expect that if a person is going to post in a language, other than English, that the postings would have a semblance of the intended language, as compared to a bastardization of the same?
