More OCGOP Money Going to Janet Nguyen

Posted by: Tomahawk | 05/30/2008 10:54 AM

I recently reported that the Republican Party of Orange County transfered $10,692 to the Janet Nguyen for Supervisor campaign.  Two days ago, the county party made another contribution in the amount of $4,708 to Janet Nguyen.

The total contribution now stands at $15,400.

Gee, I hope the other endorsed Republican candidates running for office are getting the same treatment from the Republican Party of Orange County.  Hopefully our party leadership will at least do something similar for one of the Executive Committee members who is running for countywide office.

You are 100% right. Rumor is that Van just used his Assembly campaign account to do a hit piece on Janet Ngueyn that calls her a communist. Of course that would be illegal (the Assembly money part), but in Van's world it does not matter.

The Fly said:

I heard a similar rumor yesterday regarding the expenditure from the Assemblyman. Is there any substance to the rumor?

Meddlesome Nobody said:

Contributions like this surprise few of us. I suspect the party is merely the conduit of someone else's money. At least it appeared that way to me during the last campaign cycle when the party sent several mailers supporting candidates in local non-partisan elections.

Although I happened to also support those same candidates, I believe someone else was pulling the (purse) strings.

Flowerszzz said:

Can someone please explain to me how teh Party can give more the the $1600 TINCUP limit?

Anonymous said:

Well Janet - as the party's endorsed candidate - certainly can use it after all the money all those lawsuits cost her.

Not to mention that there are already Viet paper ads depicting her as a communist sympathizer, paid for by????? All this negative campaigning is even turning off the very electors Van has always appealed to.

He needs to "get over it", he's going to undermine his entire image by doing this. Just count this one as one for the records and move on and pick bigger battles. He is looking bad to his Viet voting block at this point by doing these things. Don't let this personal "vendetta" destroy all he has built.

Janet is not a communist. She is not a communist sympathizer. She is a good American. She has represented her district very well. I will vote for her and everyone I talk to is voting for her with few exceptions. What is Van Tran doing to himself with this negative campaigning? He wants to run for higher office and he's playing these silly games at this level, what can we expect from him if he has yet more power?

Jubal said:

I think that it's being reported incorrectly -- as a contribution rather than as member communication.

I called the OC GOP. They're doing member communications mail in support of Janeett.

Flowerszzz said:

They should amend their LCR's then to be Late IE's...because they are reporting incorrectly.

Been Where? said:

been around,

The only illegality going on is in your camp. Janet Nguyen and her cronies, hired propagandists like Andrew Do-Do and Nick LeCong going on Viet-language radio on County government time attacking everyone in sight, or unseen.

Janet's auction time said:

Anon @ 3:51 PM,

Explain to all of us, please, why is Janet Nguyen getting the support, political and financial, from Tony Lam, Viet Weekly, Nhi Ho, Nick Le Cong and so many other usual suspects. Are they all bastions of anti-communism? Not!! Please explain to all of us.

With irrefutable photographic evidence on Viet-language newspapers, none of Janet's supporters including the bribed and paid for radio announcers, can answer these direct charges.

For your one vote, Janet will lose 10 as she is being clearly exposed for who she truly is: an opportunist who will sell her own soul to the highest bidder.

Janet's Action Time said:

Oh, can't forget the biggest Viet Commie conduit in which Janet Nguyen received $1,500.00 from -- Eric Le. Explain to us what her relationship is with this character and how long has it been going on.

With all the blabbering about this and that on the radio by Nick Le Cong and Andrew Do, desperately attempting to put this Commie Connection fire out, it is burning brightly as they can't dispute or credibly explain the Janet-Eric-Viet Commie connection to the satisfaction of the Viet listeners. This scandal is hurting Janet badly.

Win or lose, the Viet community will NEVER look at Janet Nguyen the same way again, ever.

Been Around said:

Van Tran's mailer is clearly illegal, both at the state level and perhaps at the county level. State candidaets are prohibited from doing IE's through their campaign committees. If the mailer was not an IE, then it was an in-kind, which the county tip cup law prohibits. Also - Tran made no 24 hour report - another violation.

Hmmmm said:

Does anyone calling Tran's mailer illegal read Vietnamese. I heard that he was only defending himself against allegations Janet made against him. Why would it be illegal to defend himself? By allowing her campaign to attack people other than her opponents, Janet opened herself up to it.

I guess Janet's ship has been sinking ever since she has moved in to the 5th Floor to waste tax payer's money!

Been around the check cahing stores many times................CAN YOU READ VIETNAMESE? Assemblyman Van Tran' mailer was a defense mailer against FALSE accusation by the your malfunctioning Janet's campaign office!

It was not a political mailer and I thought you were sharper than this.......... with your long political experiences.

Tomahawk,

Your post appears to be a bit biased against Janet Nguyen.

Do you happen to be one of Dina Nguyen's major supporters?

If so, don't you think you should disclose that fact?

d'Anconia said:

Chris Prevatt,

Every single post you write about the 1st Supervisorial election is a bit biased in favor of Janet Nguyen.

Do you happen to be one of Janet Nguyen's major supporters?

If so, don't you think you should disclose that fact?

Anonymous said:

Ask Thomas Gordon about Chris Prevatt supporting Janet Nguyen. However, I dont think you would have to go to such extremes to see how Chris has bought into Janets kool aid. I cant wait to see the horror on Chris Prevatts face when Janet pulls papers to run against Lou Correa or Loretta Sanchez.

Moo said:

Apparently "Been Around" hasn't been around long enough. Janet Nguyen sent out a Vietnamese mailer attacking Van Tran even though he's not even a candidate for supervisor.

Janet opened the door for Tran to respond, which he did. Everything is legit and i'm sure your attorney already informed you of that. Andrew Do even admitted that the mailer was legal on a radio interview today.

But then again I didn't expect you, "Been Around" to understand since you dont read or write Vietnamese.

As far as violating TIN CUP, the only one that broke TIN CUP is Janet Nguyen who opened an illegal legal account and took one in the gut from the FPPC.

LoL said:

Chris Prevatt is questioning Tomahawk's biased against Janet? Can I question his biased against Hoa Van Tran?

I have twice gone on record supporting a write-in of Darrell Nolta.

d'Anconia said:

CP-

Your support for a token write in candidate is as transparent as your bias for Janet. I don't know how your fellow Democrats put up with you, but as a party, we're glad to have your support for one of our candidates, even though the wrong one in this case. It's a good start at least...

Bottom line:

Dina's supporters are jealous of Janet's OC GOP endorsement and what comes with it.

Dina's supporters are jealous that Hoa Van Tran can generate more press than Dina.

Fact Check said:

Prevatt,

Be nice and be fair, man. How many times does Janet Nguyen have to fleece this county before you open your eyes? Didn't she pull one over you, too?

Chris Prevatt said:

"I have twice gone on record supporting a write-in of Darrell Nolta."

That’s truly pathetic Prevatt. Everyone knows you’re a Janney through and through.

Just ask your friend TA Gordon who you emailed him stating that you support Janet but asked him not to call you a Janny in front of other Democrats. I also saw that you apparently had a talking to by someone that made you tuck your tail between your legs and apologize for your remarks regarding unions and your view of them as thugs. You’re a bad Democrat. But keep up the good work. A few more Dems like you and the GOP will have a majority on the Santa Ana City Council and we will keep our hold on the Board as well. You’re our best cheerleader.

Anonymous said:

Even Chris Prevatt should be allowed to have his opinion, after all, this is a democracy??? But when you are a democrat you aren't allowed to have your opinion? Sounds like thugs to me! And if he can correctly identify a thug I would think he could also correctly identify the best candidate for Supervisor who is NOT a thug. I'm glad there are some Dem's that appreciate a good supervisor when they see one.

As for Darrell Nolta, you may not have him to kick around much longer. Word has it that he has been offered a job in Sacramento as a legislative analyst. He won't be peering over the Supervisor's back fence anymore, or being a presence in Westminster with good/or? critical analysis of what's happening there. But he will be making a nice salary and living up on the Sacramento River. Sweet.

Prevatt is Wrong said:

Anon,

Janet Nguyen is not a good Supervisor. She is caught in so many lies it's becoming pathetic.

Janet can't even speak for herself. All these months, she's been in hiding behind Andrew Do and Nick LeCong, who are very poor reps of hers. Who is really running this office? Janet or her so-called advisors, who seem to be the only voice, a bad one at that, for her?

cra republican said:

Prevatt, last time I checked ,the most of the Viet citizens are strongly favoring Dina over Janet........ including my self!

I am voting for Dina Nguyen with smile.

Union Boss said:

Hey Chris isn't the only democrat that supports Janet!!!

I am happy to announce that my members and I are also very supportive of Supervisor Nguyen. She has played ball very well with us lately and for that she will always have the support of our union leadership.

Thank you Janet Nguyen for all you do for us!

Missy said:

Cute announcement, "union boss." Now how about telling us who you are, or even which union you're involved in?

Could it be you're really CRA Republican in disguise?

cra republican said:

Missy, can't trust anyone?

Do you think everyone on this blog is me..... cra Republican?

I will take it as compliment but you should really vote for nice Dina next week!

Note to Chris Prevatt said:

Chris-
Tomahawk should also disclose that he is hoping that Kermit Marsh wins his judge race so he doens't have to face him in November when he runs for Westminister City Council.

Union Boss said:

Me???? In the CRA??? LOL!!!

No, really, even if Janet was endorsed by the CRA, which my understanding is she's not, our union leadership would still support Supervisor Janet Nguyen.

That's how good she promised to be to us...

Dina is getting polled at 90%

Wishing I had an awesome job like Midway City Sanitary District Director said:

Dina must be polling that well. Why else would all her supporters be at their computers on Saturday? They obviously aren't making phone calls or walking precints. Someone should tell you Tran disciples that polls only count when you aren't polling your friends. I think Tan Nguyen was polling really well too. Janet wins this going away on Tuesday. The rest of us Republicans won't have to listen to all of you after Tuesday. Just do us a favor, after you all lose on Tuesday...go cry somewhere else. Don't come and cry on the blogs.

Re: wishing i had an awesome job said:

Oh you mean like Janet's polls last year that showed her winning 80% of the Vietnamese vote?

Right...

LOL

Johnn Cakes said:

Here is what Chris nPrevtt had to say about his analysis of the 1st sup district.

"The Republican from central OC who is looking for a place to run is “Boss Tweed” Assemblyman Van Tran (termed out in 2010). He is the one likely challenger to either Lou or Loretta. More likely Lou. Janet, is no threat to Lou or Loretta."

It does not take a rocket scientist to realize that this guy has been placed under the spell of janet nguyens lies and deception.

Note to chris, when janet takes out papers to run against Lou or Loretta I hope you nhave your bags packed to move out of the oc when the dems come to lynch you for helping janet take over one of those seats.

Re: Johnn Cakes said:

Psst Johnny...dont' forget the 69th.

I heard there are 10,000 Viet votes in that district. Carpetbagging's never stopped anyone before...

Johnn Cakes said:

RE Johnn cakes:
Sorry I forgot to mention the 69th. But of course Prevatt would not think of that one even though when the city of Santa Ana opened up the rolls for the section 8 program supervisor Janet Nguyen brought all the applications to her little Saigon welfare office and had all Vietnamese applicants fill them out. There can be three goals for this move; firs bump up her base in Santa Ana for a run at the 69th ad, second the same for the 34th SD, third the same for the 47th cd.

Prevatt is either blind or he is in on it with Janet.

Hoa thinks he's running for School Board LOL said:

Yes I can hardly wait until Tuesday!!! Or could it be Wednesday? I mean even when Janet wins by a big margin I'm sure someone will sue her and call it "unfair" or "fraud" or something, the Anti- Janet people have come up with more B***S*** about her than I even anticipated...talk about swift boating someone... so it could be into next year before we really know who won if lawsuits are being slung around again.

But it's okay, the polls say Janet is winning by 230% so I doubt we'll have to have exploding mailboxes with Dina and Hoa mailers. Funny thing about the Hoa Mailer today....you'd think he was running for school board or that the Supervisor seat would have any influence over school funding...another funny thing...along with that mailer came a nefarious mailer from the Westminster School District's Superintendent Sherry Nordheim. That mailer referred to a recent "poll" taken (yes another one of the multiple choice polls that only have answers they want to hear) that say parents overwhelmingly support everything at the school. And ironically it also says how low down on the list of performance California schools are. So, yeah, the real answer is to throw more money at it....NOT!

It's like when you buy a lemon car, no matter how much money you sink into it - it keeps breaking down. We need to change brands and get a new approach to schooling in CA, not try to flush the radiator with more money. But even Hoa hadn't figured that out in his mailer!!!

Tomahawk:
You're right. I should take a look at all the cash Van gets from the state CRP and other Republican groups. It isn't "curious" for a Republican to get donations from other Republicans. Why don't you post how much cash and mailers the caucus donates to Van's Assembly race and staying in office?

Minh said:

Why can’t a decent person runs for supervisor? One that does not have a scandalous history. Wait, a decent person would never run for office; or else, s/he wouldn’t be fastidious. People, who runs for public office are called politician, hint the word: politic (not politics). According to Webster, Politic is characterized by shrewdness in managing, contriving, and dealing. Thus, those who plan to enter the political world must have one of these (vice) characteristics.
