Fleischman on GOP Legislators Voting For Democratic Leaders: No Mas!

FlashReport.org publisher (and Red County blogpen member) Jon Fleischman penned a couple of posts -- here and here -- calling for an end to the practice of GOP legislators voting, out of congeniality or professional courtesy or whatever, for the Democrat who already has the votes to become Assembly Speaker or Senate President Pro Tem.
The proximate cause of Jon's call is the Harry Sidhu for Senate campaign's attacks on Assemblywoman Mimi Walters' votes -- along with every other GOP Assemblymember -- to elect Fabian Nunez as speaker when the Assembly organizes itself.
Jon's advocates that the Assembly and Senate GOP Caucuses should instead place the name of their respective leaders in nomination for Assembly Speaker and Senate President Pro Tem, respectively, and demand a roll call vote.
Jon is absolutely right. From now on, if they continue this unnecessary exercise in professional congeniality, Republican legislators are just providing potential primary opponents with ammunition with which to wound them.

Right on!
The idea of a Republican voting for Fabian Nunez is completely repulsive. That goes beyond collegiality and approaches insanity.
I think that tomorrow we'll be able to post up a list of Republican legislators and how they voted, right here on RC.
Ideally, Republicans will place into nomination the name of their leader, Mike Villines, and he will get all 32 GOP votes.
If Villines' name is not put in, then we'll have to see which Republican Assemblymembers from Orange County OBJECT to a vote of acclamation and cast an important "NO" vote.
Who's to say Harry Sidhu would do differently?
