AD71 Watch: Martin Wisckol's Take on the Blais/Miller Brouhaha

Kudos to Martin Wisckol over at Total Buzz for his analysis of the recent immigration brouhaha between Neil Blais and Jeff Miller.
Assembly candidate and Rancho Santa Margarita Mayor Neil Blais is getting hammered by this piece on Red County, which as I write this hasn't printed Blais' rebuttal. I've been trying to cut through the hyperbole for a couple days now -- here's what the real situation looks like. You can read the rest of Martin's post by click here.
Blais and his wife, Destin, run a grant-writing consultancy. That's at the root of his opponent's attack, which claims that Blais is helping raise money for to benefit illegal immigrants. Three of the agencies and foundations with which Blais is contracted benefit, among others, illegal immigrants in Los Angeles County.
Blais does not dispute that is has "on-call" contracts with the three or that they do, at times, benefit illegal immigrants. But he presents persuasive evidence that he has done virtually no work for the groups, and that he has received just $2,800 from one group and nothing from the other two.
Of course, sentiment in areas such as the 71st Assembly District is strongly anti-illegal immigrant -- it's the top issue for many voters. So any vulnerability on the issue can help sink a candidacy.

So the story Blais told Wisckol is that he never really made any money working for these LA county agencies, even though he reported making $20,000 on his 700 forms? And, yes, they do help illegals, but since they never really paid him, even though he weanted to be paid by them, he is not part of the problem. And somehow Jeff Miller should have known that Neil lied on his 700 form?
Wow. It must have taken hours for Neil to come up with the perfect excuse!
Blais lied on his 700 Form which is a felony. Someone should file a criminal complaint with the Riverside DA's office.
