AD60 Watch: OCYRs Slam Union Mailer For Falsely Claiming They've Endorsed Curt Hagman

This came over the transom this morning:
On April 23rd, the OCYR sent out a press release proudly proclaiming their support of Larry Dick. In addition, the OCYR sponsored precinct walks in the City of Orange for the Larry Dick campaign on both April 26th and May 3rd.
"More than 40 young conservative volunteers walked precincts over the course of both weekends," said Barrett Tetlow, campaign manager for Larry Dick. "We are proud to have the support of the Orange County Young Republicans."
"It is unacceptable that the CSLEA would misrepresent the position of Young Republicans for the purpose of misleading voters. To falsely claim the endorsement of an organization is the worst kind of deception in politics," said OCYR Political Director Erik Brown.
The Orange County Young Republicans call upon Curt Hagman to publicly state that he has not received the endorsement of our organization and to ask his supporters to stop using our name in this campaign.
Unions Falsely Claim Orange County Young Republicans Support for Hagman
Conservative Young Republican organization NEVER endorsed pro- union candidate.
(Orange) Yesterday Republican voters received a mail piece from the CSLEA (a coalition of statewide unions) highlighting the unions chosen candidate, Curt Hagman, in the 60th Assembly District race. The mailer falsely states that Hagman received the endorsement of the Orange County Young Republicans (OCYR).
"Nothing could be further from the truth," said OCYR President Shawn Fago. "We did not endorse Hagman and I am disappointed that Curt Hagman would allow his Union buddies to fraudulently use our name in an effort to bolster his lackluster conservative credentials. The Orange County Young Republicans is a grassroots organization with a proud tradition of supporting conservatives."

Fago, I would hate to make an enemy out of Curt Hagman.
One of the few downsides of "cut and paste" is that sometimes mistakes do occur. The endorsement listed on this mailer should have read "California Young Republicans", who have endorsed Curt Hagman, instead of the "Orange County Young Republicans who have not.
As the consultant who designed the CSLEA mailer, I take full responsiblity for this error. My apologies to Shawn Fargo and the Orange County Young Republicans. I applaud the energy and enthusiasm they are displaying for their endorsed candidate.
Shawn, you may want to know that candidates do not (or at least are not supposed to) influence IE mailers. You should know this, yet you say that you are "disappointed that Curt Hagman would allow his Union buddies" to do this. Not smart.
