AD60 Watch: It's A Positive Life

In contrast to the trench warfare that's characterized much of the 33rd Senate District race, the GOP contest in AD60 between Curt Hagman and Larry Dick has been relatively mild.
The Hagman campaign has decisively out-mailed the Dick campaign in terms of sheer number of mailers. I haven't counted them up, but when you throe in the pro-Hagman IEs from the police unions and the California Medical Association, it's probably at least 3-1 in Hagman's favor -- especially during the crux of VBM balloting.
Frankly, I haven't been terribly impressed by the mail from either campaign. Both candidates' mail has been bland and text-heavy. Each mailer looked very much like the previous mailer. Few of them jumped out and grabbed the voter and said " Read me!" However, the quality of the mail has improved during the last week.
What's striking has been the almost total absence of negative mail. Even the IEs have been positive.
The closest the race has come to negativity are two comparison pieces from the Dick campaign that landed yesterday.
This one:

Kind of a "light" negative: drawing an unfavorable (for Hagman) comparison with Larry Dick -- tagging Curt Hagman as a bailbondsman backed by unions, as opposed to a Larry Dick, "the pick of the Orange County Taxpayers Association and conservative Congressman Ed Royce."
I think these are good pieces that look good -- and more importantly, look completely different than the previous Dick mailers, therefore reducing the possibility voters will toss them thinking its the same mail as before.
Not that Hagman has been inactive. Casa de Jubal has received a steady stream of positive peices that practically put Hagman in soft-focus. This is one that arrived yesterday, and followed by a very similar mailer today -- plus this letter from a group called the California Republican Taxpayers Association:

We'll see if the relatively tame tone of the Dick-Hagman contest continues. There's still a couple of days for mail to hit.

I'm not sure how you think those are "good" mailers. Very poorly done...they didn't even spell "San Bernardino" right; I would be surprised if they're polling over 5% out there.
I hadn't noticed the misspelling.
But my point is I think voters will look at these mailers, as opposed to much else of what has been coming out of both campaigns.
Curt is dominating this race with clean campaign!
Curt, win!
