AD60 Mailbox: Hagman Goes Negative On Larry Dick
Posted by: Jubal | 05/31/2008 2:04 PM
It looks like I spoke to soon.
In the batch of mail that arrived at Casa de Jubal today, there was a hit piece by the Curt Hagman campaign against Larry Dick.
The mailer accuses Larry of being a "liberal" and uses pretzel logic in an attempt to tie him to Gray Davis. It also knocks him for water rate increase. Perhaps Councilman Hagman has miraculously avoided having to raise a single fee or tax in Chino Hills, but I would like him to find me a single water district that at some point does not have to raise rates as the cost of providing water increases.
I've seen a lot of hit mail, but I suppose one's reaction is always different when directed against a friend. I have known and been friends with Larry Dick for years, and for Curt Hagman to accuse him of being a liberal is absolutely absurd.
Anyone who knows Larry and has worked with him can attest he is a conservative. To claim he is a liberal is simply false -- and ironic coming from the candidate who has been the beneficiary of tens of thousands of dollars in IEs from public employee unions.
I don't think those IEs make Curt Hagman a liberal. But it says something that the public safety unions -- whose primary concern are protecting, and if possible expanding, the pay, pensions and benefits of their members -- take a look at Larry Dick and Curt Hagman, and decide they'd rather have Curt Hagman in the Assembly.
If you are a Republican reader in the 60th Assembly District who hasn't yet voted, please join me in casting your ballot for a conservative man of character, Larry Dick.

Larry should have stayed positive. Perhaps the race for the 60th would have stayed positive all the way if Larry didn't hit Curt twice in the same day within 24 hours of the mailing deadline? Now we'll never know...
Larry's effort has been lazy. I get the sense he thought this was going to be handed to him. Welcome to the real world of OC politics.
Can't agree more about the union ties Jubal, but why doesn't that bother you with Chief Walters and his ties to Blankenship, Wayne Quint and Mark Nichols? Cant wait to see his endorsements later if he gets the appointment.
They called him the dreaded "L Word"? And used 6 Degrees of Separation Logic to connect him to Gray Davis (rather than Kevin Bacon)?
What's the world coming to? (Hey! GOP voters! Where are you going? Come back! The liberals are going to force your children into polygamous gay marriages to union bosses! Come back! Come back!)
