A Question for Our Next Sheriff

There have been a lot of reasonable questions publicly posed for anyone seeking to become our next Sheriff.
- How they'd manage the prisons.
- What they'd do to clean up the department.
- What they'd do to increase transparency.
- What they'd do in response to the Chamberlain murder.
Etc, etc, etc.
But I have another line of questions I hope are explored.
Do you believe the 2nd Amendment gives every American a fundamental right to own a firearm? To what extent and in what circumstances do you believe that right should be limited? What is your opinion of a Sheriff's role in the distribution of CCW permits? Given that many of Orange County's cities don't have their own police chiefs who can issue CCWs, to what extent do you believe the Sheriff has an extra responsibility to be open to issuing CCWs?
You see what I mean.
In a normal selection (or election) of a Sheriff, I have no doubt this question would have come up more. And given the extraordinary circumstances surrounding this selection, it is understandable that is hasn't come up more. But given the parity that largely exists among several of the candidates, I hope somebody thinks to ask one of the questions that would have been obvious and common in a more normal process.
