OC GOP Endorsement Committee: Kermit Marsh in No. 12
Posted by: Tomahawk | 04/15/2008 10:34 PM
On its April 8 meeting, the OC GOP Endorsement Committee also unanimously voted to support Kermit Marsh for Superior Court Judge, Office No. 12. This is a given considering that Kermit is the party's parliamentarian and chairman of the endorsement committee.
Marsh's Republican rival in this race is fellow attorney K.C. Jones. K.C. made his case, but in the end, the party members went with their guy. There are also two other candidates in this race: Deputy District Attorney Mike Flory, a Democrat, and Deputy District Attorney Debra Carrilo whose party registration is unknown to me. They did not request the party's endorsement.
According to Carrilo's website, she is endorsed by T-Rack, Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez, Assemblyman Jose Solorio, Supervisor Chris Norby, etc...
I don't believe Kermit has a website up yet.
In the next several days, I will write about their March 17 financial reports.

OC Judge Races

Kermit Marsh is one of the most honest people I have met in this line of trade. He is a credit to the Republican Party of Orange County, and to Republicans in general.
Will someone post where to send a cheque?

Tomahawk - so from your post, I could not tell if you think Kermit was the best candidate for endorsement or if the RP just chose him because he's on the Central Committee Board? Was a good presentation made by both from which one could draw a comparison to choose the best candidate?
"According to Carrilo's website, she is endorsed by T-Rack, Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez, Assemblyman Jose Solorio, Supervisor Chris Norby, etc..." I don't know much about Debra Carillo, but it seems like she has experience (Deputy DA) and a slew of endorsements on both sides of the aisle.
Kermit Marsh didn't even know how to run an endorsement process using Robert's Rules. How could one possibly think he would be fit to be a Superior Court Judge?
Although it is no suprise that Mr. Mash would secured the endorsement, I question whether someone so partisan should be a judge. Mr. Marsh's dogmatic sytle will not serve anyone -- liberal or conservative, or white, brown, black or yellow -- well on the bench.
It will be interesting to see how low the Orange County Bar Association rates him.
Too bad Kermit Marsh got the nod without more consideration of KC Jones. He is a wonderful attorney who absolutely understands how the decisions from the bench affect all citizens from businesses to the neighbors who are fighting over the tree. I've known KC Jones for close to 15 years professionally and he is a very smart man who can always see both sides of a dispute and will rule according to the law. OC County will only benefit from his election.
