JWA keeps passenger load below legal limit - OCR

The Register reports: John Wayne Airport during the last year accommodated significantly fewer passengers than it is allowed under a legal agreement, figures released Tuesday show.
The annual passenger load - capped by a legal pact that aims to limit noise in surrounding neighborhoods - is based on the number of travelers who used the airport from April 1, 2007 through March 31.
Roughly 9.85 million people went through the aviation hub's gates in that time frame, comfortably below the maximum allotment of 10.3 million passengers.
The El Toro Info Site notes that JWA traffic was running almost 6% ahead of last year through the summer and was headed towards the legal limit. After airport management reminded airlines of the cap on allowed passengers, the airport subsequently saw five consecutive down months when service was less than the prior year's.

Len,
I appreciate all your efforts against El Toro. You are the man! I voted against OCX because I was deeply concerned about the air quality for Orange County. Then, there are also global warming issues.
With that being said, I don't feel that additional passengers out of John Wayne would be good for the air quality for our county either, even if Newport Beach does deserve to have more jets over them.
