It's The Sidhumobile!

Posted by: Jubal | 04/08/2008 4:00 PM

A reader sent me these shots of the Sidhumobile: a rolling Harry Sidhu for Senate billboard roving around the 33rd Senate District:

Given the price of gas, old fashioned campaign signs might be cheaper.

Has he no shame?

That thing is really silly looking. It's like he wanted to do more than campaign signs, but less that the Harkey bus wrap.

Been Around said:

I have seen truck signs used like this in some third world countries and in Arkansas. But this is a first for Laguna Niguel!

Name ID said:

It sure does get his name ID out and about in the 33rd.

DMV Daddy said:

I can't believe that this contraption complies with the state's Vehicle Code. For one thing, the sign looks far too tall to be carried on the back of a small pick-up truck.

Has anyone from Mimi's office checked with the CHP?

On the other hand, they may WANT this stupid thing to be seen by every uncommitted voter. It's laughable.

Name ID -

Yeah, it gets his name out there in a counterproductive way. You think Laguna Niguel residents take kindly to this eyesore driving through their community?

I'm not going to dis' the Sidhu mobile. I thought the original Sidhumobile (his 2004 City Council campaign) was insane and he still won by incredible margins.

That said, this tops his original contraption in tackiness.

JC Fremont said:

When I went by the Walters campaign office earlier today to check out the place and grab a sign, I saw this thing circling around the parking lot!

The ex-convict behind the wheel kept doing these insane circles around the lot, over and over and over, tires screeching, like he was in a destruction derby. The Sidhu campaign is clearly and immaturely trying to taunt the Walters campaign with this odd truck. As an observer, I would have been more upset if the whole thing weren't so comical.

How lame can you get?

Tacky said:

I have never seen anything more tacky...

Voters will definately not take kindly to that piece of junk on their streets. As they Shouldn't!

It is becoming apparent that Sidhu's campaign team is having a hard time coming up with valuable campaign ideas.

surprised said:

I was very surprised but highly impressed when a young man knocked on my door the other day to give me a Walters piece.

He was a college student from around here. Very well spoken, might I add.

The brochure he handed me was really nice. I don't know her very well but it clearly outlined the issues most important to her.

Shot Caller said:

I see "endorsed by OC Cops and Sheriffs" on the billboard.

Does that mean the Theo Lazy deputies are joining Harry?

Wake me when my shift is over said:

How about "Theo Lazy Deputies for Harry"?

anti-mailer said:

All of these hits are probably coming from Political Consultants that are pissed that Harry is trying a campaign tactic other than spending 10s of thousands on worthless campaign mailers that end up in the trash. Maybe Harry learned a lesson from the colassal waist of money that was spent on the 5th district supe race in south county.
The only thing mail pieces do is make consultants rich!

OC Insider said:

Duane down in San Diego will most likely be getting rich off Sidhu. That's probably why he is consulting for him. They know he can't win, but I guess consultants need a paycheck too.

Anonymous said:

Mail pieces the only thing consultants make money on!? LOL!

Consultants will find ways of making money off of everything. Coronado Communications (Sidhu's consultant) is probably on a monthly fee in addition to whatever else. They probably even made money off this ridiculous truck.

Observation said:

Consultants win campaigns. Candidates lose them. This truck idea seems like a candidate idea to me.

goes both ways said:

Harry buys ad space on flashreport and on a truck. Mimi buys ad space on flashreport and oc blog. I call it a wash.lol

Sightings said:

I don't know if Mimi's camp is walking precicnts, but I do know that Harry's camp walked my house...over a month ago! My mother who resides at the other end of the district was apparently walked to this past weekend too. This is going down to the wire and should be an interesting final two months!

OC Resident said:

I got a knock on my door my a young man passing out literature for Mimi Walters. It was very impressive

It looks like they have a lot of both campaigns have a lot of volunteers or staff.

Get real said:

I like how OC Insider rips Dichiara, yet by judging the quality of Gilliard's work on Mimi's first two mail pieces it looks like they were trying to just make rent for April.

Rothrocks Nightmare said:

Duane & Jen are top notch political gurus who would never allow something this stupid to take place. I would wager that this is Mimi's campaign doing this in an attempt to make Harry look like trailer trash from Anaheim.

"he knows they'll pull some dirty punches"

Congrats, top notch ah?, one of the best Yogi Berra-isms in a long time.

huh? said:

what is going on with all the bickering?
