AD71 Watch: Jeff Miller on San Francisco Welcoming Illegal Aliens

Posted by: Tomahawk | 04/03/2008 11:03 PM

This came over from the Jeff Miller for Assembly campaign exactly 2 minutes ago:

SAN FRANCISCO SPENDING TAX DOLLARS TO WELCOME ILLEGAL ALIENS - REPUBLICAN JEFF MILLER SAYS CITY SHOULD BE DENIED STATE FUND UNTIL THEY AGREE TO OBEY STATE LAW

MISSION VIEJO, CA -- In reaction to the City of San Francisco's new ad campaign welcoming illegal aliens to the city, local Republican Mayor and 71st Assembly district candidate Jeff Miller said today that the first bill he will introduce once elected to the Assembly will be to cut all state funding for San Francisco until they obey federal immigration laws.

"San Francisco's City Council and Mayor always seem to be on the wrong side of the law, be it gay marriage or illegal immigration," said Miller.   "The city is spending tax dollars on advertising to welcome illegal aliens to their city, making a mockery of our nation's federal immigration laws. California's taxpayers should not send one more dollar to San Francisco until Mayor Newsom and the City Council agree to drop this insulting campaign and start obeying the law."

"Corona Mayor Jeff Miller has taken the lead enforcing immigration laws while San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom has taken the lead in ignoring the law and welcoming illegals to his community," said former Senator Dick Mountjoy, the author of Proposition 187. "Miller's legislation to cut state funds from San Francisco until they agree to obey the law makes great sense and deserves widespread support."

Mayor Jeff Miller has a strong eight-year record of working to stop illegal immigration.  On the City Council, Jeff led the effort to allow police to deport criminal aliens following their arrest and worked closely with police and schools to keep kids learning and out of the street protests of Spring 2005.  In addition, he also was a co-chair of the Border Police Initiative, sponsored by retired Senator Ray Haynes in 2006.

San Francisco's advertising campaign of welcoming illegal aliens through billboards, radio ads and other advertising was reported today in the San Francisco Chronicle.

Oh, great. A nut from OC is going to try to out-crazy a nut from San Francisco. I'm so proud.

Aren't there any sane legislators left in the world?

redperegrine said:

Sorry Missy. Miller is from Riverside County.

And I'm still waiting to hear why the newspaper claimed he compromised his office for personal gain.

Been Around said:

Great move by Miller to jump on this issue. Taxpayers should be outraged that SF is spending tax dollars to lay down the welcome mat for illegal aliens.

Missy said:

Thanks, RP, my bad. All those nuts look alike to me.

Lady Fingers said:

Good post Tomahawk. Do you have any comments on this?

Mark Brainard said:

Your not wrong Missy, just a little early. Jeff Miller will be representing OC by the end of the year.

Miller is an ignorant 909/951er! San Francisco did not lay out the welcome mat for illegal immigrants. San Francisco simply took off the blinders that so many have on when it comes to facing the reality that there are many illegal immigrants already in our communities and informing them that they will not be harmed by fulfilling simple civic duties, such as reporting crimes to the police department. Until the federal government lives up to it's responsibility of providing this country with a well-guarded national border, cities need to insure a high quality of life for ALL residents. San Francisco is informing all residents, regardless of their status, that they can report crime to the police department and not be harmed. For all of you law-and-order folks, isn't that supposed to be a good thing?

Oh, be still my heart.

Jeff Miller should just stay in Corona.

You know those kinds of comments aren't allowed (so I've edited yours accordingly). Stop it or you'll be banned. First and last warning.'

I've been way too lenient lately, and that's coming to an end.

Team Blais can only resort to personal attacks against Jeff Miller and Riverside County. Feeling desperate?

Anonymous said:

And Miller can only resort to attacks on immigrants. Real classy guy!

I didn't realize Blais was a champion of the illegal immigrant. Maybe your polls are as bad as your op research.

Anonymous said:

How is not issuing a press release opposed to encouraging all residents to work with law enforcement to report crimes considered being a champion of illegal immigrants?

Donald said:

The trouble with people being anonymous is that they can not be held accountable to other contributors for bad manners, and name bantering.

Tim said:

I think the cities who want to get rid of illegals should buy them a bus ticket to San Francisco
