AD71 Watch: HJTA PAC Endorses Jeff Miller

Jeff Miller Marks Tax Day with Endorsement From Howard Jarvis Taxpayers AssociationThis is a significant score for Miller. HJTA is one of those endorsements that actually matters -- both for validating a candidates anti-tax credentials and because the HJTA PAC does independent expenditures.
MISSION VIEJO, CA -- The Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association PAC has endorsed Republican Mayor Jeff Miller for Assembly in the 71st District primary election. They join numerous other prominent tax-fighters and taxpayer groups in supporting Jeff Miller, including National Tax Limitation Committee President Lew Uhler, the Inland Empire Taxpayers Association, the Corona Taxpayers Association and the Mission Viejo Taxpayers Association.
"Mayor Jeff Miller has been a great friend of taxpayers and we look forward to continuing to work with him to protect Californians from the tax and spend crowd in Sacramento," said Jon Coupal, President of the Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association.
April 15 is the day state and federal taxes for the previous year are due, and fighting against taxes is a key part of Jeff Miller's principle campaign platform.
"The Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association is leading the fight to protect private property rights and to oppose tax increases, priorities I share and am committed to advancing," said Mayor Miller.
The HJTA is dedicated to the protection of Proposition 13 and the advancement of taxpayers' rights including the right to limited taxation and the right to vote on tax increases.
In making the endorsement, Jarvis representative Kris Vosburgh noted that they were dual endorsing in the race, and added, "We believe you (Miller) have been an excellent representative for taxpayers and look forward to continuing to work with you in the years ahead."
The HJTA joins the California Republican Assembly, Congressmen Ed Royce and Ken Calvert, Senators Jim Battin and George Runner and Assemblyman Mike Duvall, as well as other leading conservatives in endorsing Jeff Miller for Assembly.
Plus, it neutralizes the advantage Neil Blais held up to now by having the HJTA endorsement to himself.
UPDATE (4/17): Per Larry Gilbert's comments, perhaps I should make it painfully clear that this announcement means the HJTA has now dual endorsed in AD71.
In other words, they have endorsed both Neil Blais and Jeff Miller.

I still don't understand how anyone can say Jeff Miller is solid on taxes. He has voted to increase fees and taxes over 300 times - thats fact. If you don't believe it to be true, then do some research.
Jeff Miller = tax & spend, plain and simple.
I seriously doubt HJTA would endorse a tax and spend liberal. Voters won't believe Blais' lies with HJTA backing him up. HJTA polls off the charts with Republican voters. The Blais camp is going no where fast. And contributions indicate so....in the last month Blais has raised 15K (at least 3600 of the 15 is for the general and not spendable) vs. Miller 50K.
It seems the only thing Blais has as of recent is regurgitated endorsements and 2nd morgage payments.

Can you get much stupider for a campaign strategy? Here is the Blais mailer:
"That Miller guy raised taxes sooo many times. Really, go reseach it yourself"
Sure, yeah, right, that is what the voter will do, hustle down 300 phantom tax increases, all to please Blais who can't prove them.
Seriously, this can't be Neil's strategy, can it???
HJTA endorsed Blais as well. So what does that say about HJTA? Don't know, but a dual endorsement pretty much makes it a wash.
Gary
The HJTA endorsement was for Neil's position on the HOA not for Assembly. Get your facts stright.
What is it with Miller and his campaign? He seems to have a personal vendetta against Rancho Santa Margarita. I am beginning to think that Miller's integrity is about as low as a slug when he allows personal attacks against the cities he wants to represent.
This guy has absolutely no class to allow this to continue, and he will be judged by the actions of his campaign.
So here is a challenge to Jeff Miller. If you have any integrity at all, you will issue a press release denouncing the attacks against a city you want to represent. Because if you don't, it is clear that you condone them. And if that is the case, then you have no integrity and you are guilty as charged.
So how about it Jeff. Tell us how you feel about Rancho Santa Margarita. Lets hear it from you.
It is just like when Neil's campaign belittles the Riverside County Sheriff while still being proud of the his endorsement of the Orange County Sheriff.
Miller loves OC Cities since he placed his campaign HQ in a real OC City....Mission Viejo that has smart council members like Frank Ury.
Hey RSM=HOA,
We all can do some name calling... Corona=Parking Lot. What does that prove? Neither means anything! I'd rather live in an HOA than a parking lot.
Why don't people talk about the issues?
I think the reason people call RSM an HOA is because the council act more like an HOA board then a real city council. What color are the trash cans, how many speed bumps should we have , real important issues like that. No real city would have the likes of Neil and Gary sitting on their councils but Neil and Gary fit right in with every HOA Boardmember I have ever met. They are both liberals that want to tell people how to run their lives.
If Frank Ury was on the RSM council he would do great things for the city. Too bad RSM just has five JPL's and not one Frank Ury
Question for Ury Fan:
Has Ury endorsed anyone? I just looked at Miller's website and saw that JPL is the only MV endorsement listed for Miller. That makes me question whether Miller would be any better than any RSM councilmember? Thoughts?
JPL is smart enough to endorse the winner - Jeff Miller- which makes him much far more intelligent and socially adept then the entire RSM (Board of Directors) Council.
You think both being South Councy boys Frank Ury would be on board with Neil. I guess Frank has worked with Neil on too many projects and knows him too well to stick his good name on this one.
OC Blog readers.
Before leaving for Orlando I spoke to Jon Coupal, President of the HJTA. Jon told me that he double endorsed in this race. As such I question some of the above commentary.
Larry Gilbert
Thanks, Larry -- but we already knew that. I mentioned that in the orginal post.
Matt.
Sadly there are people winging it with comments without knowing the truth. The endorsement has zero to do with any HOA.
Have a great weekend.
You have a point. I've amended the post accordingly.
Larry you made a fine point with the HJTA duel endorsement, the good news is that Mike Carona has not duel endorsed and is sticking with his man Neil. I heard his tril might get moved to Riverside County ( for you keeping score at home that is the County that has a Sheriff not under Federal indictment ) However we are lacking in fire stations in the Wildomar area according to some in then know.
Being the former liberal New Mexico Dem like Neil is- I heard he got the endorsement of both Clinton and Obama ....now there is a double endorsement for you !!!!!!
I heard that Gilliard is flying down for a press conference right before Friday's CWLA debate between Neil & Jeff. I wounder what dirt he is going to unleash on Blais. Could be the insurance stuff.
What do fire stations in Wildomar have to do with the AD71? Who is this nutball anyway?
Over 30 people showed up at Millers HQ for a walk today. Final total was over 2500 doors hit. I never knew there were so many duplexs in upper curst RSM.
There aren't any duplexes in RSM. You were in Lake Forest which is in the wrong district. Of course what would Miller know about Orange County anyway.
Funny I knocked the door of Karl Rove aka Councilman Gary T and it seemed to be a duplex. I hope Gary lives in the duplex that he registared to vote in.
