A New Name In OC Sheriff Succession Struggle

I've heard a new name pop up in discussion of applicants for the permanent OC Sheriff spot: Bob Peppler.
I don't know much about Peppler other than he recently retired as San Bernardino County Undersheriff. His wife Susan, a former Redlands councilwoman, was appointed to a senior position in the General Services Administration in Washington, D.C. in 2006 -- which is probably why Peppler retired.

So if this is why he retired....Why would you even bring him up.
