Regarding Jack Anderson
He is the INTERIM Sheriff. He is not Sheriff, yet. He may not be. I understand as the INTERIM Sheriff he has the ability to make changes to the department but I think he is getting WAY ahead of himself. Even if I agree with what he is doing I think these changes need to be made by the SHERIFF when he is appointed by the BOS. If the new Sheriff does not agree with Jack's changes well then more money will be wasted un-doing it all. With all the BS with the Sheriff's management, and Jack was there too, he should NOT be the next Sheriff. Heck his own department only gave him 9% approval. What does that tell you?
The half-walls in the dorms at Lacy, where Chamberlin was assaulted, have been a security problems since the dorms were built. The Deputies and Sergeants have documented this problem, but nothing was ever done about it because of the cost. These were administrative decisions, so don't blame the Deputies.
The televisions were removed a year ago. The additional cameras were supposed to be installed early last year. The new classification for these type of inmates has been in effect for some time.
Just because this stuff is in print now don't think it is anything new. Don't believe Anderson's smoke and mirrors.
I am very pleased our Orange County legislative delegation made a concerted showing at the Coastal Commission hearing last month. And I hope today's LA Times piece makes a little more ground toward exposing the wave-hoarding faux greeniacs for what they really are. Unbelievable. The number of stories out of that one hearing are enough to fill a book.
I particularly commend Assemblywoman Walters, whose district would see the 241 completed and whose wave-riding constituents seem to be the most vociferously opposed to the completion, for having the guts to get up at the mike and support this much-needed project. The intercounty traffic gridlock is simply unacceptable.
