Lou Correa Scores Lowest Among Senate Democrats On Pro-Union Ranking

Out of the state Senate's 25 Democrats, OC's Lou Correa tied with Stockton-area Sen. Mike Machado for the lowest score - voting with organized labor 53% of the time on an index of 35 bills.
Lou Correa also recently lobbied the Coastal Commission to oppose the 241 toll orad completion -- a project strongly favored by labor and which would mean jobs for his constituents.
Labor largely went for Umberg over Correa in the 2006 Democratic Senate primary, and the county public employee unions were steamed over Correa's decision to run for Senate instead of keeping his promise to serve out his term on the Board of Supervisor.
Looks like the healing has yet to begin.

Congratulations Lou!
Despite my stong conservative beliefs I must admire Senator Correa. He is one of the few Dems in the State Senate who has the courage to vote according to his convictions (in defiance of Perata). That independence is rare in our legislature, regardless of the members' party affilation.
During his 6 years in the Assembly, Correa was known as a moderate.
Don Perata, organized labor, and the voters of Central OC knew what they were getting when they elected him to the State Senate.
You know why Correa is a moderate Democrat? Answer: because he's representing a swing district behind the Orange Curtain.
If the Lou Lou were representing LA, i'm sure he would get a 100% rating from the Labor Council.
I'll take a liberal Republican over this moderate Democrat anyday.
