Assemblyman Bob Huff Introduces Legislation to Restore Parental Rights
AB 2085 and AB 2086 will delete contentious section of Education Code and Require Parental Notification for Sensitive Topics
Sacramento, CA (March 24, 2008) - Assemblyman Bob Huff has introduced two bills that would overturn a controversial section of the Education Code and require parental notification when sexual orientation or gender identity issues are being discussed in public school classrooms.
SB 777 (Kuehl) was signed into law by Governor Schwarzenegger last year. It added a new definition to sexuality in the Education Code to include heterosexual, homosexual, bisexual and transgender-lifestyles. SB 777 also disallows school instruction to promote any bias against such newly articulated alternative lifestyle choices. Opponents of SB 777 believe that by expanding the definition of sexuality and increasing prohibitions against bias, a reverse-bias in favor of alternative lifestyles is actually created. AB 2085 would remove language inserted by SB 777 into the Education Code.
Another Huff bill, AB 2086 would require a school district to send a notice to parents or guardians when gender identity or sexual orientation is discussed in public school classrooms.
"Parents want academic excellence from our public schools in return for their tax dollar investment. California's schools should be teaching core subjects and preparing our children to compete in a global economy, not indoctrinating students with an agenda," Huff stated. "When amended by my bills, the Education Code will still rightfully prohibit discrimination against any student who identifies with an alternative lifestyle."

As a longtime OC conservative, whoever posted the "Ben" comment should be ashamed. I'm assuming you are refering to Ben Lopez, the guy people call "the most conservative activist in San Bernardino County" and the same guy who has worked for conservatives like Lou Sheldon and Dennis Mountjoy. The only reason it seems one would post a derogatory comment like this is because Lopez is working for Mountjoy against Bob Huff. Only recently has Bob Huff been trying to brand any deep conservative credentials, while the Mountjoy's have been for voer 30 years. Is Huff that worried he will lose that he and his people have to resort to thinly veiled lies and rumors about opponents or their workers.
Bob Huff, here's a challenge...denounce this attack publicly and officially and condemn all such attacks. Remaining silent will only lead others to believe you approve of such attacks from you directly or indirectly and from your supporters.
Also, look at Mountjoy's records folks. He was solid against homosexual garbage in the Assembly. It took Huff four years to finally draft anti-gay legislation. Mountjoy was there with TRUE conservatives from day one!
