Debbie Cook Ballot Title Deposition Stayed

Posted by: Jubal | 03/24/2008 4:09 PM

Debbie Cook.jpgH/T to TheLiberalOC.com: Huntington Beach Mayor Debbie Cook obtained a stay from the Court of Appeal regarding her scheduled 2:00 p.m. deposition by Mike Schroeder in the ballot title lawsuit.

A commenter asks "what is [Debbie Cook] hiding?"

She's not necessarily hiding anything. But what candidate in their right mind wants to be deposed by one of their opponent's political advisors? I'm not a lawyer and don't even play one on TV -- but although the nominal reason for the deposition is Cook's use of "Mayor" as her ballot title, presumably Schroeder could ask her about other things. Sort of like doing opposition research on an opponent while they're under oath.

If I were Debbie I'd be doing the same thing.

Stay tuned...

Why? What's she hiding??

I still believe this lawsuit is in poor taste. This is coming from a person who is definitely not a fan of Debbie Cook. Our Huntington Beach government is definitely bloated and needs to be drastically reduced for the benefit of myself and fellow taxpayers.

This lawsuit will bleed Debbie out of money for as long as it lasts. Her "stay" only ensures that the bleeding continues for longer.

There's one ability the Dark Knight has mastered: Using the legal system to drain resources from the opposition! Go! Mike! Go!

So frivilous lawsuits are only ok when they are used by Dark Knights to drain opposition candidates?

Schroeder is a joke! He should crawl back under the rock Janet and Carona found him under. Let Dana and Mayor Debbie Cook run the race, and see who best represents the 46th District. Lets see who best reflects this coastal district and who has the stronger positions on the war and energy issues that face our nation.

I may have missed it but I haven't seen too much leadership from Dana. Maybe Schroeder should sue Dana for using Congressman on his designation, Dana hasn't acted like a congressman for quite a while.

JA- we'll have to agree to disagree. When I see a crack on my windshield I fix it quick before I have to replace the whole thing. All within the rules of course.
