CRA County Convention: The CRA Endorses Mimi Walters

Next up is the race for the 33 Senate District where Assemblywoman Mimi Walters and Anaheim Councilman Harry Sidhu is competing in a fierce and potentially expensive primary battle for the right to succeed incumbent Sen. Dick Ackerman. Mimi got the CRA nod on a 32-12-1 vote over Sidhu. Here are their pitches to the CRA delegates brought to you by the Red County UnSteadiCam:

Tomahawk,
There were 33 votes for Mimi, not 32.
This is a great pick up for Walters. She is quickly on her way to the Senate.
33-12-1 - hike - looks like Sidhu almost blocked this CRA endorsement kick to Walters. Hold those bets on this race.
I saw Gina Zari vote twice Saturday
She must have because DDD never loses these type of things. Something stinks in the 33rd
Orange Vote Counter -
Something stinks because providence always rewards Duane Dichiara? Come on! That's taking a messianic worship of Dichiara a little too far.
How many months do you have left on your internship with the guy?
Almost blocked an endorsement? Is that really the goal of a convention vote? I suppose so if one is standing in the shoes of the presumptive loser. But the endorsement threshold is a demanding two-thirds majority. That means a candidate has a solid base of support.
This was no contest. Sidhu was totally outmatched. From the video it's clear he had no idea who his audience was. Congratulations to Mimi for the unquestionable win. She deserved it.
Judging solely on Sidhu's performance here and thus far, it's clear he's out of his league in this race. He should really doubt what Duane and Jen are cajoling him into and consider saving his money.
Sidhu still has Stanton Councilman Dave "Union Puppet" Shawver as one of his most prominent endorsers on his website. His list of local elected endorsements is a whose who of League of Cities, crusty, dead wood types.
CRA has been active in Orange County for many many years. They are a brand. This win seals it for Mimi.
Are you looking at the same video of Walters and Sidhu? Seems like Walters gave a canned, written speech. Like it or not, the numbers show that there was CRA support for Sidhu on this endorsement and Walters didn't break that threshold by much.
"The numbers show that there was CRA support for Sidhu"?!
Yeah, the numbers show LESS THAN ONE THIRD OF THE ATTENDEES supported Sidhu. The numbers are pretty damning for him.
Plain and simple without any spin the numbers posted show that there was CRA support for Sidhu last Saturday. Looks like Sidhu was only 3 votes short of this thing going to a second round of voting.
Oh, but there wasn't a second round of voting. So, we can play "it was almost this" and "it was almost that" all day long. We could write a book of almosts just for the heck of it. Wouldn't that be fun?
Mimi ALMOST has this race sewn up.
See? This is so much fun!
I saw Gina vote 6 time for Walters and also Dina lead Janet by 60 point in latest poll.
Six times?! Ha ha ha! That's hilarious! Absurdly hilarious! Funniest comment I've read on this blog in a while.
C'mon you guys, give Craig Alexander and Karl Heft the credit they deserve for a well-administered convention.
I agree. I've gotten both sides from most of the contested races decided on at the convention. From that, I think Alexander and Heft led a good convention.
