Cleaning House In DC Schools

Art Pedroza linked to this story in yesterday's Washington Post about how D.C.'s exceptional school Chancellor Michelle Rhee is cleaning house -- in this specific instance, canning 98 employees from the school's central office. I agree with my wife's assessment that they ought to clone Ms. Rhee and distribute her to school districts throughout the country.
I thought this paragraph near the end of the article particularly telling:
Art justly opined how Santa Ana Unified could use a Michelle Rhee. I can think of some other OC districts, as well.

He said that after the personnel legislation was passed, he and other central office workers were given a job review. He said he thinks he was marked down in some areas to justify the firing. "I'd been there six years and never had an evaluation until they walked in the door," the man said. "How can you have folks who just walked in the door evaluate you?"I don't think the point is how the new chancellor can evaluate this guy -- the point is how can he work at the DC public school central office for six years without getting a job review!

I think that's gonna get you in trouble with the Vatican.
LOL.
I speak figuratively, of course.
I'm perfectly fine with IUSD; one of the lowest funded districts in the state yet among the highest test scores. The secret to turning any district into a good one is simple: parent involvement.
