Before She Was A Supervisor...

...Janet Nguyen was, of course, at one time a staffer for Assemblyman Ken Maddox.
Why bring this up out of the blue?
I was Googling around for a picture of Ken to insert into the previous post, and came across this December 13, 2003 article in la.indymedia.org by left-wing activist Duane Roberts. The article chronicles a protest at then-Assemblyman Ken Maddox's office by lefties upset with Maddox's opposition to drivers licenses for illegal immigrants, and includes a bunch of photos of their little event -- including this one in which you can see Janet Nguyen off to the left:

And just three years later, she was launching a successful campaign for county supervisor.

Matt,
One of the reasons I have supported Janet Nguyen over the last few years is that she is firmly opposed to PLAs (project labor agreements), which prevent non-union contractors from bidding on public works projects. Ironically she worked for TWO Republican politicians who saw their careers tank after they each supported the OC PLA. Maddox was one of them. His support for the OC PLA is one of the reasons John Campbell beat him for a seat in the State Senate. Former Supervisor Cynthia Coad also supported the OC PLA - and Chris Norby used that issue, amongst others, to soundly beat her.
PLAs are commonly used by school districts. As such it is an awful idea to elect Ken Maddox to the CUSD school board. Why recall a bunch of union hacks only to replace them with another one?
Art just because you keep saying it over and over will not make it true. I know you want to believe that YOU had a hand in defeating her but Coad was not defeated alone or even mainly because of her PLA vote...it was the airport issue that was the strongest and main reason and due to the fact that in redistricting she lost half her district.
It is so odd that after all these years you kepp bringing her up and hitting her....she is a genuine person who while politcally naive, ran for office for all the right reasons...to help people. There was ALOT of pressure for her to vote for that PLA...and she made a mistake. I also find it odd that you praise Janet and slap Coad in the same breath as Coad is one of Janets mentors.
Why does Janet always look angry?
Cynthia Coad's vote for the Project Labor Agreement was one of her most important votes - a vote that led to her loss.
Her vote for the Project Labor Agreement was a fatal blow to her among movement conservatives. Without a base of conservative votes, she became highly vulnerable.
Anti-El Toro airport money wouldn't have made a difference if Cynthia Coad had a conservative reputation.
One thing you can say about Supervisor Janet Nguyen is that she's learned from those who have come before her. She's got the best voting record for anyone who's held the First District seat in memory. It's a shame that a handful with an ax to grind are willing to turn back the clock on this seat to settle a personal score.
Love the shirt Ken...Ha Ha Ha
Anon we will have to agree to disagee...She never had the conservatives on her side from the begining. Most did not want her to run and she used her own money to run. I know she agonized over that vote, an it was some conservatives that were asking her to vote for it.
What I also know is that while redistricting was going on, she lost half of her district and the anti airport NIMBY's POURED money into IE's and Norby's campaign. So perhaps the PLA was addressed in some of those hits against her ultimately it was the airport that defeated her.
How things changed. Janet Nguyen was brought up by Ken Maddox. He was, by far, her longest boss and employer, whereby she worked for him for nearly 6 years.
And yet, when she became an elected, she turned on him. It says much about the character of Janet Nguyen when he basically disowned Janet. Ken Maddox is partly responsible for creating this little Frankie. He sure knows a lot of secrets about Janet and he should let the public knows what's going on.
Hey Anon,
Whatever .... can't deny the fact that Ken Maddox created a monster and he disowned that monster.
Unfortunately, Janet Nguyen now alligned herself with dark forces the likes of Viet Weekly, Tony Lam, Andrew Do, and the high priest Nick Le Cong. These people will be exposed for their true colors.
Haha...'dark forces'...what a great description...
Janet's "back stabber" attitude/character will cost her supe. re election bid.
Janet often socialize with wrong crowd..ie. Independent party member/ Obama voter, Art Pedroza who is trying hard to undermine our OC republican party by spreading infectious Dems. virus with sugar coated lies.
Dina, her opponent, has been known to have many long time republican friends and we can't wait to see Dina replacing Janet in June.
Who are dina's Republican friends outside of Little Saigon? When she goes to Republican events no one even knows who she is. She sits alone with Andy Quach.
Anon,
Yeah! But she shows over 100K in less than three weeks! Janet's envy is dripping.
Anon.10:55, When Janet attends republican functions, she sits alone........sure, people know who she is.........and that's why she gets to sit alone!
Our nice Dina always greets people with big polite smile.....and she has so many good republican supporters today.
