This came over the transom from the the OC Taxpayers Association PAC: a letter of endorsement for Neil Blais:March 6, 2008
The Honorable Neil Blais

Rancho Santa Margarita CA 92688
Dear Mr. Blais,
The Orange County Taxpayers Association Political Action Committee (OCTaxPAC) is proud to support your campaign for the 71st Assembly District.
OCTaxPAC's mission is to ensure that taxes and tax-supported programs are "fair, understandable, cost-effective, and good for business." Your service as mayor of the City of Rancho Santa Margarita indicates that you share those goals.
You were a founder of the city. OCTaxPAC's sponsor, the Orange County Taxpayers Association (OCTax), has cited the city as a model of frugal government: it has only 22 full-time staff members; it contracts for planning, building, safety, engineering, traffic and code enforcement services; and it levies no business license or other business taxes. Residents readily praise the quality of municipal services. As a director of the Transportation Corridor Agencies, you have fought for the completion of the SR-241 toll road, which OCTax believes to be one of the most important projects for the future of the counties of Riverside and Orange.
The 71st Assembly District includes all or parts of the cities of Norco, Corona, Orange, Santa Ana, Anaheim, Tustin, Rancho Santa Margarita and Mission Viejo in the counties of Riverside and Orange. Your well-known qualities as a truth-teller, team builder, community leader and (especially) small business owner equip you to be an effective representative of constituents in this unusually diverse area.
You
OCTaxPAC is convinced you are uniquely qualified to help keep the state's spending lobby in check. We hope that this endorsement will encourage other elected officials and candidates for office to follow your example of taxpayer-friendly leadership.
Reed L. Royalty
Secretary, OCTaxPAC

It is highly disappointing that OCTax would use their name for someone with such a lousy record.
I live in RSM, and what a joke that it is a "model for frugal goverment." It is Orange County's Capital of Over-Taxation.
And Mr. Blais is one of the culprits.
I'm new to politics, and new to bloggs, but this OCTax group has just tarnished it's name in my book.
