No. 25 Incumbent OC Judge Faces a Challenger from Within

This year, there are 34 Superior Court Judicial offices up for re-election and nearly all incumbent judges are running unopposed with the exception of one: Seat No. 25 of Judge Nho Trong Nguyen (pictured left).
Judge Nho Nguyen was appointed by then-Governor Gray Davis. He is a well known public official in the Vietnamese-American community. Nguyen recently changed his party registration to Declined-to-State.
However, one of his challengers in the June Election is also another
Nguyen - Timothy Nguyen, a trial lawyer (pictured right). Timothy
knows he doesn't have a shot at unseating Judge Nguyen, but decided to
go forward with his plan anyway. He submitted his nomination papers
this week. Timothy Nguyen is a registered Democrat. There is also a third candidate in this race by the name of Jack P. Holmes but I'm not sure he will return his nomination papers.

Judge Nho Trong Nguyen, just why do you think no one has a chance of unseating him? Does he have a solid record? He seems a happy man whenever you see him, especially at events where he swears into office anyone in his community, even Democrats.
I heard Judge Nho Trong Nguyen changed his name to JOHN Nho Trong Nguyen, is this true? and also changed his party affilication as indicated above?
Anyone who change his name or party affiliation has no courage, dignity nor confidence. Judges Nguyen, please give your name and your party affiliation to show your dignity.
It takes courage to run against a seating judge, I support an attorney here in Placer, we lost and the attorney paid a price. If the attorney wins the other judges are, shall I say not pleased that someone would dare to run against a sitting judge. If the attorney loses the election, he and his clients will certainly face bias ruling.
I think he is a very poor judge. He lets attorneys get out of hand and has difficulty making decisions. He may seem happy all the time, but it is probably because he realizes he has no idea what he is doing and yet he is a superior court judge.
Nguyen is not exactly the county's worst judge, but he's certainly in the running.
When then Governor Gray Davis signaled that he wanted to appoint a Vietnamese municipal judge for OC, Nho Nguyen went to all the Vietnamese lawyers collecting petition signatures and seeking their support. He had been working in a state agency, so most Vietnamese lawyers did not know how good or bad he was, but they signed the petition anyway.
They're sorry now that the municipal court is abolished and the not-too-bright Judge Nguyen sits on the superiour court.
