Measure D Passing Handily

The "Yes on Measure D" campaign is showing you can fool enough of the people some of the time.
Measure D is fraud "term limits" initiative that extends the terms Santa Ana councilmembers can serve. Specifically, it rescues Claudia Alvarez from the prospect of being shoved out of elective office this December.
But you almost have grudgingly admire the sheer Orwellian chutzpah of the campaign. It was an "anti-developer" campaign funded by developers!
Currently, you have absentees and 7 of 126 precincts reporting, and D is passing handily:
UPDATE (10:39 p.m): 54 of 126 precincts are in, and Yes on Measure D's margin has shrunk from 19 to 11 points. That's a raw vote gap of about 2,100 votes, which will be tough to overcome.

Matt,
The early results are disappointing. But lets see what happens as more votes are counted. Remember that a lot of the negative press about Measure D came late in the game.
Even if we lose, Measure D has united a lot of folks in opposition to Miguel Pulido and his Council cabal. We will be working on our own ballot measures soon...especially one that will establish mayoral term limits.
Now that the developers and waste management interests in the city have weighed in heavily in support of passing Measure D, the question now facing Santa Ana is what will be in the adopted “Code of Ethics and Conduct” According to Measure D, “these new standards be adopted
within six months of the effective date of this Charter amendment”.
If voters were really supportive of this measure because of the inclusion of a “Code of Ethics and Conduct” that was promised to them in Measure D, let’s see what the City Council comes up with.
It probably will not look anything like the Oaks Initiative in Santa Monica and Pasadena: http://www.consumerwatchdog.org/advocacy/nw/?postId=6682
