CUSD Recall Committee Hits 4 Trustees With Another Complaint

The CUSD Recall Committee continues to hammer away at the four remaining Fleming Trustees on the Capo Unified School Board.
They filed another complaint about Brown Act violations and called on the Capo Board to rescind a Dec. 10, 2007 vote to approve seeking bids for a stadium complex.
It's like watching a beating.

CUSD Recall

If anyone needs a beating, it's these four naughty Fleming leftovers. They have done more damage to the district and its children than anyone can even imagine. Go Recall Committee.
Those remaining Fleming Trustees are pushing their luck by thumbing their noses at Tony Rackaukas. He gave them a mulligan a couple weeks ago based on their promise not to violate the Brown Act anymore. Last week the OCRegister published a story in which CUSD confirmed they had violated the Brown Act in December. If they violate the Brown Act again tonight (as they are proposing), then it seems the DA would have to step in and prosecute them for these continuing violations.
With CUSD already in a self-inflicted financial crisis caused by years of mismanagement by its four senior trustees, and with the dismal prospects of additional strains due to recently announced state cutbacks, what is Spt. Carter doing to help?
Old guard trustees and recall targets Marlene Draper and Sheila Benecke are spendthrifts who are pushing beyond legal limits to force their extravagant spending schemes at SJHHS to create their "legacies," while the district is financially imploding. The recall looks more likely than not, yet Carter seems to be throwing in with them. Why would he do this? He certainly can't have any deep loyalty to these two losers and he certainly wouldn't waste his own reputation and political capital to support their legacy-building schemes.
I hate to say it, but it looks like he truly believes in their finally corrupt agenda. I hope we don't start hearing him say in a monotone voice, "One of us, one of us, one of us..." Now that's really scary.
I predict State of California will intervene soon. CUSD is running out of money and can cut back only so far. I am not sure about new Superintendant, but he has his hands full. It will take years to get back on track. Between the CUSD Board, and the last Sheriff, I would say as voters we need to pay more attention at the polls.
Why is no one crying Brown Act violation when Trustee Addonizio made the motion to move areas 0270 & 0271 from Newhart MS and discussion ensued? This particular attendance boundary recommendation was not on the agenda. Those parents and students residing in those areas aka Village San Juan weren't given any notice or opportunity to voice their opinions. Very selective are we when we choose to cry Brown Act violation?
Monday night, once again, was a total waste of time...what have the new trustees accomplished so far? How are we any better off? I've seen better behavior in my child's first grade class. I am so ashamed of the lack of professionalism on the part of the trustees. These board meetings are unproductive and I have to listen to the same boring speeches every month. Ms Bryson could say what she needs to say in 4 sentences or less and doesn't need to repeat her point 10 times in one speech. This isn't "little theater" and her own private stage. I wish you guys only had 2 min to respond. The election is over...we don't need the political speeches anymore, we need direct and informed responses to the questions at hand.
If only all of you could hear the comments from the parents in the room while you are making your ridiculous comments. Apparently the majority of those in attendance were better informed on the agenda issues than our trustees. On top of it, there is a complete lack of parlimentary procedure. Motions were being made while a motion was still on the floor. Discussion was all over the place rather than speaking specifically to the motion.
The Recall people need to take their "passion" and put it into something more worthwhile and promising...like making our schools better. We don't need to spend anymore time and money on the stupid recall...whose going to pay to have all thoses signatures you've collected verified? More unnecessary spending from the general fund? This is our school board...deal with it and make it work!!! Everyone needs to grow up, let go of the past and work together to save this district.
I supported the ABC candidates because I believed they were going to make a difference...but all I've seen so far is more of the same bonehead get nothing done crap I've seen for years. You guys are no different and our schools and my children's education is paying the price.
What happened to Leadership? More importantly, what has happened to accountability? Certain elected school board members have used their board positions as a personal and political stage for self-serving purposes. Along the way certain board members decided to vacate the interest of the students and the community as a whole. I am supporting the current recall because the board members targeted for recall forgot something very important in their elected position, to uphold the highest standards of integrity, trustworthiness, and ethical conduct. Anyone attending the last Board Meeting will attest to the need for change. The district will not be able to afford anything less!
Hey Jo, here's why. Addonizio's motion was not a Brown Act violation, so there is no selective application of the law here. In contrast, the admitted violations of the Fleming trustees are numerous, illegal and unethical, and part of a proven, systematic scheme to conceal things from, and deceive the public. Even if Addonizio had make a mistake, it would have paled by comparison, warranting a slap on the wrist as a warning. The Fleming trustees, on the other hand, deserve to be fined and incarcerated. To even suggest they are in the same league is preposterous.
