Analyzing the Numbers: John McCain Won Big in Central OC

I was looking at the breakdown of votes between John McCain and Mitt Romney by congressional districts this morning in Orange County and saw some interesting results:
It is no secret that Assemblyman Van
Tran is a long time supporter of John McCain. Tran is also on the
Senator's finance team in California. In recent weeks, Team Tran went
to work for McCain as they made thousand of phone calls on behalf of
the Senator to Vietnamese Republican voters in Orange County. In
addition, Tran's backers also worked the Vietnamese language newspapers
angle (Bruce Herschensohn did a Little Saigon media tour) and ran
30-second radio spots two days before the primary date to
Get-Out-The-Vote. Yesterday, the effect of that effort was clearly
rewarded with the stunning result in CD 47th.
In politics, endorsements give a candidate some legitimacy among the insider circle, but often it doesn't really translate into votes, unless the endorser is a larger than life character. With Van Tran, he's no more popular with the voters in his district than a Congressman with his people, but the difference is that the former possesses an organization that can directly communicate with the voters.

CD 40th (Royce) - John McCain: 24,311 | 38.8%; Mitt Romney: 22,966 | 36.7%.By looking at these numbers, it can be concluded that John McCain carries all the congressional districts in Orange County, albeit by a small margin. However, the only anomaly from the numbers is CD 47th, which encompasses all of Central Orange County. In CD 47th, where there is a heavy concentration of Vietnamese Republicans, John McCain is beating Mitt Romney by a whopping 20 points. Now keep in mind that not all the absentee ballots have been counted yet, so McCain could still widen his lead here.
CD 42nd (Miller) - John McCain: 28,241 | 38.4%; Mitt Romney: 28,095 | 38.2%
CD 44th (Calvert) - John McCain: 22,397 | 39.9%; Mitt Romney: 20,625 | 36.8%
CD 46th (Rohrabacher) - John McCain: 32,671 | 41.6%; Mitt Romney: 29,326 | 37.3%
CD 47th (Sanchez) - John McCain: 8,979 | 46.9%; Mitt Romney: 5,144 | 26.9%
CD 48th (Campbell) - John McCain: 34,611 | 39.5%; Mitt Romney: 34,033 | 38.9%

This morning I received an email that summarized what Republicans voted for yesterday:
- more war
- bigger government
- less freedom
- national ID card
- collapsing dollar
- open borders
- less sovereignty
- socialism
- unfunded Social Security
Looks like it will be Wayne Root getting two votes from the Favor household in November.
Sorry guys
Aw c'mon Andy - you know it's illegal to vote twice.
It doesn't matter, Andy. As of this moment secretary of state's numbers, the top three republicans *combined* couldn't beat Hillary on Tuesday.
Mike Huckabee (Rep) 272,591
John McCain (Rep) 985,284
Mitt Romney (Rep) 801,317
Barack Obama (Dem) 1,731,893
Hillary Clinton (Dem) 2,128,763
Methinks California's electoral college votes are firmly in the "blue" column come November, however the Favor household votes.
Tylerh,
You are exactly right. That is why I am surprised anyone in California who considers themselves a "Reagan Republican" would vote for the Repubican candidate in the General election. I am not going to say never, but I don't think a Republican will carry California in my lifetime. So, in November, send a message and vote Libertarian. I think Wayne is a good guy. He was canvassing for Goldwater when he was 5, or something like that.
Marty Wiskol at Total Buzz is reporting that Hillary crushed McCain in Orange County.
Dan:
I was just analyzing the Republican numbers. Aside, since the CRP didn't permit DTS to participate in the GOP primary, naturally those voters would go and play in the Democratic contest.
I wouldn't celebrate too soon.
As soon as the American people have a choice between Obama's inexperience (i.e. I'll talk with the leaders of Iran, North Korea, and Venezuela) and McCain's foreign policy expertise or Hillary's lies/double talk and McCain's straight talk, it might be a tougher call than you bleeding hearts think.
Also, I think that those numbers show an impressive operation for Assemblyman Van Tran.
Great Contrast,
I would not use the phrase "impressive operation" when it comes to Van Tran, given that the nickname for his followers is the "Trannies."
As reported by this blog, John McCain did pretty well in most of the California congressional districts outside of central Orange County, too. Did this political operation have a reach throughout the ENTIRE state?
Seriously, this is bandwagoning at its worst.
The sad thing is that if this operation had any real impact, it left Trung out in the cold AGAIN. TRUNG won't be going to St. Paul as a delegate for Mitt Romney and his (former?) pals did their best to make sure of it.
Looks like another clear signal of Dina in, Trung out.
Anononymous,
Are you blind or just don't know how to read the numbers? The results speak for themselves. In the entire OC, John McCain leads Mitt Romney by about 2%. But in Central OC, he leads by 20%.
Just like the frustrated and disillusioned Art Pedroza, you sound like some one who are jealous and envious of the success of Team Tran. You feel that if they win, you lose, right? You can's accept that they have a well-run and disciplined operation that is one of the best in the state, huh? Are you infected with the Pedroza disillusionment because you talk to him?
It seems like you are trying pretty hard to create a divide, which does not exist, between Trung and Dina, or any members of Team Tran by making up misleading assumptions between Trung and Dina. Nobody's gonna fall for your elementary story. Unlike your pal, Janet Nguyen, they don't create suspicion and division amongst themselves. Really, get a life and get real!
Arturo de Piedra is a operative working for Obama and he is always upset with good republican leaders.
