SD35 Watch: Senate GOP Caucus Endorses Harman Re-Election

This just came over the transom from Sen. Tom Harman:
But it's significant given the sub rosa chatter about the possibility of a conservative primary challenge to Harman, which generally centers around Assemblyman (and stalwart Red County blogger) Chuck DeVore. Such a challenge would force Harman, for the first time, to compete for the GOP nomination solely with GOP votes. Filing is a little over a month away and this is the Senate GOP Caucus's way of heading off a costly primary challenge by signaling they will back Harman no matter what.
The generally held view in OC GOP circles is that Sen. Harman's post-June 2008 primary voting pattern will indicate whether his turn to the right is genuine or temporary coloring.
Senate Republican Caucus Endorses Re-Election of Tom HarmanOK, 14 incumbent GOP state senators endorsing another incumbent GOP state senator isn't exactly a man-bites-dog story.
Huntington Beach, CA - As the new year begins, so does the "24/7" campaign operation for Tom Harman's Senate re-election.
Today, Senator Tom Harman is announcing the endorsement of the Senate Republican Caucus which consists of fifteen Republican Senators from throughout California.
"I am so pleased to have the support and endorsement from my Republican colleagues in the Senate," stated Senator Harman. "It takes the entire team of Republican Senators working together to fight the special interests who want to increase the size of government without regard to the taxpayer or the bottom-line. I am proud of our team effort and look forward to working alongside them throughout my next term."
In a statement about Harman's re-election, Senate Republican Leader Dick Ackerman said the following:
"Tom Harman has been a strong Republican vote in the State Senate. He has been on the front lines of stopping runaway government spending and calling for a stop to government benefits for illegal immigrants. I proudly endorse him for re-election," said Senate Republican Leader Dick Ackerman.
Harman has served in the Legislature since 2000 and was most recently elected to the State Senate in 2006. While serving in the Legislature, Senator Harman has established a solid conservative voting record. "I believe the people of California pay more than their fair share of taxes and while I will continue to fight and advocate for lower taxes and less government spending, at the same time I will continue to provide residents with the customer service they deserve when they call their legislator's office for help. One of my top priorities has always been to maintain close contact with the residents of the 35th Senate District", stated Harman.

CONGRATS to State Senator Harman! I applaud his stand to end benefits to illegal immigrants. Harman has listened to the voice of his people and is doing the will of the people. Wow! exactly what he was elected to do.
Check out his webpage to see all he has done in the fight against illegal immigration, especially his views against taxpayer funded day labor sites.
Devore, on the other hand, REFUSES to take a stand on the issue of illegal immigration. Each time he has been asked for his views he answers by NOT answering.
One can only assume he is either a supporter of illegal immigration or he is too weak to take a position. He is NOT the man for the job!
Say NO to weak candidates! Say NO to Chuck Devore!
Harman a leader on Illegal Immigration? Thats a good one. "OCNEWSJUNKY" is clearly just a Harman hack. I find it hard to believe that this supposed "news junkie" couldn't find DeVore's positon on illegal immigration. Didn't the Assembly Republicans have a committee on immigration last year, and wasn't DeVore the guy who headed up that committee? Next time you Harman hacks want to smear someone make sure you get your facts straight.
And just exactly what has Devore "done" on the issue of illegal immigration? So, he headed a committee, so what? What did he DO?
He refuses to make his views public. When asked point blank where he stands on the issue of city funded day labor sites (such as the one in his district; Laguna Beach) he dodges the question.
Did he do ANYTHING when it was discovered the Laguna day labor site was illegally squatting on state and county park land? Nope. Did he publicly denounce the the fact that the city of Laguna Beach made an agreement with illegal aliens that they would not call in ICE if they were caught in town? Nope.
Harman on the other hand has been very vocal about where he stands on the issue and has introduced many bills to curb the ill effects illegal immigration has had on the OC.
Yeah Right, as Devore's hack why don't you tell us what your buddy has actually DONE. We're waiting.
