SD35 Watch: Chuck DeVore to Run for Re-Election
Posted by: Tomahawk | 01/24/2008 6:08 PM
Today, Assemblyman Chuck DeVore announced on the Daily Pilot that he will indeed run for re-election to the California State Assembly, forgoing the opportunity to challenge incumbent Tom Harman for the 35 Senate District. Tactically, this is a smart decision by DeVore because mounting a primary challenge against Senator Tom Harman, who spent the past year and a half bolstering his name ID in the district through a very well sophisticated direct-mail program, is a tall order.Assemblyman DeVore is one of the principle lawmakers in Sacramento who is interested more in authoring meaningful legislations than worrying about pleasing the lobbyists. As a true patriot, DeVore recently retired from the California National Guard at the rank of Lt. Colonel. He is also a family man, as demonstrated by the constant presence of his wife and daughters at most public functions.
Chuck, I hope you will be prepared mentally and financially to take the 35 Senate District in 2012 when it opens up. I will walk a few precincts and seal some envelopes for you.

Kudos to the Assemblyman for doing what is right and best for the party. With the Janet Tran fight already splitting the party we couldn’t afford a fight in the 35th.
I agree, OCGOP. God forbid Assemblyman DeVore would've put together a massive campaign and ousted Sen Harman. Then Truong Diep would be out of a central committee appointment and that would just be very, very sad. :(
Like it really matters what an ultra-conservative decides to do in the California legislature. Assembly, Senate...whatever you want to do Chuck. Keep fighting for those principles and alienating us Republicans who have had just about enough. You are not a Reagan Republican, you are a status quo conservative that will bring this party nothing. Best wishes.
Chuck, you have many good friends and you can definitely count on me to support you. God Bless. May Jesus bring His peace and love to your family.
Last I checked Troung was out of one already
Is Troung not Sen. Harman's aletrnate to the Central Committee?
that's affirmative
DeVore's pathetic speech on Monday at Central Committee showed that this guy is not ready for prime time. His good ideas are just stolen from more intelligent lawmakers in Sacto like McClintock.
here here, and we wonder why Chuck can't get anything done in the Assembly and he can't work well with the party
"and he can't work well with the party"
almost sounds like tim whitacre who i hear is running for party chair against baugh.
Anon,
You do sound like a bitter Janet supporter spreading your filth all over the OC Blog. If you don't have anything positive, or even constructive to write, then get off the blog. It's stupid with what you are doing. You are just clogging up the post, not to mention creating more angst from the readers and posters against your Janet. Just knock it off.

Don't Pollute, what are you talking about? Tim is running for chair. We're going to support him since he's going to help out on Dina's campaign.
Alan Nguyen
How convenient is it that when anyone attacks Janet it is "postive, or even constructive", but when someone defends Janet it's "filth" and "stupid". If you can't take the heat, stay out of the kitchen.
First amendment son, check it out.

Please stop talking to yourself by posing a question then answering it. Please try to stick with one or two names instead of coming up with a bunch of random ones.
And top go with the "Dina Nguyen for Supervisor" moniker.
you may wanna check the IP on all three of the times and not just one and assume it's all me.
Anon,
Just get off the blog. You're just filthy. Your version of 1st Amend. consists of gutter language and trash. You can defend Janet Nguyen until you're purple in the face. We don't care. Just don't spew the filth while "defending" Janet.
where's the gutter language? Please show me. Everything here has been rated G, not a single four letter word.
Quit crying if you can't put together a cohesive argument.
Anon,
No, I don't cry like Janet. She must learned that from Tony Lam.
Your language is still gutter standard. You don't have to use profanity to carry your message in a trashy way -- your way.
Unfortunately for Assemblyman DeVore, 2012 won't be a good year to run for the 35th Senate District. In 2012, Assemblywoman Diane Harkey will choose to run for the 35th Senate District rather than seek a third term as a member of the Assembly. Perhaps Assemblyman DeVore should look to the Board of Supervisors seat available when Supervisor Bill Campbell terms out in 2012.
Will Devore run for a 4th term? Since you are against prop 93, will you honor your position and declare that you will not run in 2010?
A lot of what went into DeVore’s decision is the incredible job Harman’s DO staff did in making him omnipresent in the district and well represented in Republican circles.
Key to any legislator’s success, particularly someone who was so battered and disliked by the party’s stalwarts is having quality staff mend fences. This war was won by Harman because it will never be fought – that’s a smart campaigner.
Great News, but not unexpected. DeVore is quivering because he was asked to make a public statement about his stand against the Laguna Beach day labor site. He has no problem boasting about his military career, but cowers in fear when asked to speak against illegal immigration. He knows that the majority of voters in OC do NOT want day labor sites in their towns and he knew what he was up against.
By DeVore slinking away, I hope this is a warning to any who have supported that Laguna Beach day labor site that they will have an up hill battle if they wish to advance their political career.
I could not agree with "Worth her weight in Gold" more. The difference between the staff is like night and day. Harman's crew is savvy, smart and pleasant and DeVore's is rude, dumb and very unsophisticated. Chuck gets his victories when he runs against bitter stupid women that endorse Clinton. For the life of me, minus the endorsement, I can't figure out why he would put one in charge of his operation.
