Scott Baugh On Dunn's Decision
Posted by: Jubal | 01/11/2008 4:39 PM
Here's what he had to say:
"Joe Dunn would have been a well known, talented and formidable candidate, but his decision does not affect what Republicans will do in central Orange County: and that is unite behind Janet Nguyen and continue to maintain an all-Republican Board of Supes."

Did I hear that Scott Baugh will attempt to clear the Republican field for Janet Nguyen?
That will be an interesting conversation between Mike Schroeder and Baugh.
We will maintain all republican supervisor board minus Janet. Trung and others will replace Janet.
No doubt this is good news for the Trung camp.
What's up with Scott Baugh? Is he trying to pick winners and losers in a still disputed and controversial race at the expense of GOP unity? It's not gonna work other than emboldening the Trung camp as well as all those Janet haters, and there are a lot of them.
Scott Baugh's playing with fire without fully undestanding the divisive consequences that he may cause in Central Orange County. He should be very careful.
Last time I checked, Janet is a Republican incumbent. So much for thou shall not attack a fellow Republican. Not to mention, a Republican incumbent.

Scott made few bad impressions to Vietnamese American community so far.
First, he quickly slammed Tan Nguyen, who was alleged involved in a mailer sent to Latino voters, and asked him to resign from the race. Tan refused to do that and later lost to Loretta Sanchez. However, Tan was then exonerated without any charge. GOP under Scott's leadership scored a bad taste with Vietnamese community because of his handling.
Secondly, GOP under Scott's direction was perceived giving no support to any Vietnamese candidates but to Latino candidates in the same race last year.
It will be wise for him and GOP to stay out of the internal fighting in Little Saigon area. It's no win situation.
Today we know Janet is a LIABILITY republican, causing more troubles than anyone can handle.
Scott has NOT been a good leader himself...... under his leadership(?) our OC Republican party is becoming weaker and more divided than ever. Some of my friends ask me if he is not a Chair for the OC Dem. Party....... ie. Scott has done nothing to boost sagging OC republican registrations and has no special future plan either. Sad.
Republican, Scott Baugh is looking for his own self interest to become a ultimate power player and no one can block his way.
P.S. Sorry, increasing Republican voter registration is not on his priority list.
By unilaterally making statements like he did, Scott Baugh is poised to split the Vietnamese vote in this area in light of the fact that there will most likely be multiple Vietnamese-American candidates running in this highly volatile seat. It's a dumb move that will come back to haunt and hurt him and the GOP, uneccessarily.
Bolsaman, you are clueless. Scott Baugh can careless for any republican group or the elected republican leaders because he is sort of "above the law" in this county. He is confident that he can make the last call with big smile and no one can challenge him.
Scott Baugh did what any responsible Chair of a political party would do, which is to express support for the incumbent that shares his party's affiliation and the desire to unite the party behind the incumbent.
A responsible GOP Chairman does not alienate majority would be- republican voters by announcing his support for the unpopular, troubled office holder prematurely........
thus, causing geat disappointments and more confusions.........
Unfortunately, this whole ordeal has exposed Scott's insensibility to the wishes of our friendly GOP asian community voters........
Hey Anon @ 11:27AM,
How many GOP votes have Janet Nguyen registered and how many GOP candidates has she helped in her political career? Janet is only for Janet, and nobody else. She is a divisive figure and her politics is one of selfish interest, emphasis on the self! Her lack of grassroot activism and participation in this area speak for themselves.
Scott Baugh is wading in dangerous water by playing favorites in a still controversial and disputable race. I would tread carefully in this district.
I agree with Luong Viet. Scott Baugh is becoming a REPLACEABLE figure in OC GOP landscape.
