Recognizing Those Who Stood Tall Against the Bush-Kennedy "Stimulus" (Welfare) Plan
Posted by: Jon Fleischman | 01/29/2008 10:08 PM
Can you believe that ONLY 35 House members voted no on the
Bush-Pelosi "Stimulus" Bill?
Five of them were from California. Four of them from Orange County!
1) MILLIONS of Americans WHO DO NOT PAY FEDERAL TAXES are
getting this "rebate" -- which, in our book, makes this BILLIONS of
dollars in welfare payments.
2) MILLIONS OF Americans WHO PAY "TOO MUCH" IN
FEDERAL TAXES get... ZIP. No "rebate" at all -- which makes
this an old fashioned government redistribution of wealth.
Given the BILLIONS of dollars of welfare in this bill, there
isn't enough "sugar" elsewhere in this package to make this into
lemonade.
So a big thank you to Republican Congressmen John Campbell,
Duncan Hunter, Dana Rohrabacher, and Ed Royce for standing tall. The
other GOPers in the delegation can all pop some Tums, knowing that they shelved
basic GOP principles to accommodate the desires of a lame-duck President to work
a "deal" with the Democrats in Congress.
Oh, an honorable mention goes to Democrat Congresswoman
Loretta Sanchez. I am sure that she had her own reasons for being one of
the 35 "NO" votes on this bad bill, but we thank her none-the-less.

If Loretta voted correctly for once - it must have been an accident.
Please don't encourage this socialist.
I thought I had seen everything but then Jon Fleischman says something nice about a Democrat. Loretta Sanchez to boot.
This on top of some implied love sent the Democrats way in Sacramento for voting-with one exception-to kill the Arnold-Fabian health care plan.
What gives? I'm not sure whether to reach for Isiah 11:6 and the leopards lying down with the goats or consider whether its the end of the world as we know it and a new order is upon us and I should consult the 20th chapter of Revelations.
Geez, BR don't get all Biblical on us. That's Republcan turf!
Thanks to Ed Royce, who even emailed his constituents to ask for their opinion on the welfare bill.
As for Loretta, she kissed W twice (cheeks, not lips) on his way up to the podium for the State of the Union address. Then a vote against bailout? Is she becoming a conservative?!
Patricia Jon et al.
Loretta votd against the stimulus package because there was no pay as you go element in it. This stimulus package only increases the defecit. That being said, i sure can use that 600 bucks right about now. Things have been lean in my industry for months now.
As for those who pay too much and this dont get the 600 or 1200 per couple back in rebates, I just dont feel too sorry for them. I mean its six hundred bucks that they most likely wouldnt spend anyway.
For those who are getting a rebate without paying into the pool, that money is already spent by these pelple. Thats going to cause an immediate effect an bump to our economy.
