Mark Denny Promoted To Director of OC Parks

I'm happy to note that Mark Denny has been made to Director of OC Parks, effective Feb. 5. Mark had previously served as Deputy Director and was promoted upon the retirement of the current Director, Parker Hancock.
I have known Mark since I first got involved in county politics back in 1991, and am fortunate to count him among my best friends. Mark has a keen mind for both policy and politics, and is one of the brightest lights in Orange County government -- not to mention one of the hardest working.
Mark is also deeply committed to the county park system. After joining the parks department shortly after leaving the chief-of-staff position in Sup. Bill Campbell's office, Mark enrolled in the six-month reserve park ranger training program run by the OC Sheriff's Academy.
Congratulations to Mark -- OC is fortunate to have him at the helm of the OC Parks Department.

I too have known Mark since his days with the 3rd District. He is an excellent choice to head up OC Parks. I wish him all the best in his new job and look forward to working with him in the years to come.

Hey wait a minute, didn't he bail on Campbell a couple of years ago for some high paying gig with a pharmaceutical? What gives?
And your point, RP?
No point. Two questions.
I've had the pleasure of working with Mark the last couple of years. The County could not have made a better choice. Mark will bring a tremendous amount of management skill, political acumen and just plain common sense to the helm of OC Parks. The County hit the Mark (excuse the pun) on this one.
Congrats Mark! We are lucky to have a pro-recreation advocate overseeing our parks system.
