SHAWN STEEL GAINS ENDORSEMENT OF THE LOS ANGELES COUNTY REPUBLICAN PARTY

(Los Angeles) - Last night, the Los Angeles County Republican Central Committee overwhelmingly endorsed former CRP Chairman Shawn Steel for National Committeeman - with 87% of party members voting to endorse Steel after hearing presentations from both candidates.

"Every Central Committee should be keenly interested in this race, because it's the Central Committees that suffer most when our state is ignored by the national party elections," said LA GOP Chairwoman Linda Boyd.  "Shawn Steel has a proven track record of success, and he will work with the national party to restore their faith and confidence in California's ability to deliver statewide GOP victories.  That's why the Los Angeles County Republican Central Committee overwhelmingly endorsed Shawn Steel."

"California Republicans clearly want change at the National Committeeman position," added Steel spokesman Tim Clark.  "This strong endorsement by California's largest county GOP committee reflects the energy and desire in our party for new national committee representation."

To date, Shawn Steel has gained hundreds of endorsements from GOP leaders and groups throughout the state, including Young Republican Federation of California and the California Young Republicans.

Shawn Steel is the former Treasurer, Vice Chair and Chairman of the California Republican Party.  Under his watch, Californian Republicans narrowed the partisan voter registration gap with the Democrats, and the GOP made substantial gains in legislative races.

Shawn Steel's wife Michelle is a California State Constitutional Officer, having won election to the Board of Equalization in 2006.  Shawn served as Chairman of the Michelle Steel for BOE campaign, helping Michelle become the highest ranking elected Republican Asian American in the U.S.
