Do you think it is the same Hal Rubin with the bad hair on channel 5?
Ummm...that was Hal fishman and he died a few months back, so most likely, no.
I didn't know that Tomahawk was a committed delegate nominee with the John McCain campaign.
I think I see him right ther under CD47, just a few lines above Van Tran.
Rod Pecheco, Steve Kuykendall, and many others listed I understand.
But how about Troung Diep being listed as a proposed McCain delegate from the 47th?
Am I wrong, or is that THE Assemblyman Van Tran at the bottom of the list?
I'm having trouble trying to normalize this one.
Diep has been a long time advocate and endorser of McCain. He is also an elected official. Assemblyman Van Tran has also endorsed Senator McCain, largley for his Vietnam War efforts and the liberating freedoms that came along with it.
I would suspect that looking at McCain's listing, delegates come from a wide ranging background. Some are money players in the GOP, some are grassrooters, some are long time McCain allies and friends.
Look across the Nation to all of the candidates selections for delegates and the same rings true. You can be rich or poor, ethnically diverse, an elected official or a bum (which some say may be the same thing) and be selected.
Not everyone or everything is black and white or cut and dry to speak in the cliche's. Politics just as everything else in life is made up of history, friendships and the totality of the human experience.
So what is John McCain's appeal to any Republican in Orange County?
Is it his position on immigration?
Or is it his position on normalizing relations with the communist government in Vietnam?
McCain shouldn't have an appeal to any "real" Republican. I'm surprised that Van Tran still supports McCain given the Vietnamese community's outrage over McCain's "gook" comment from a few years back.
But I don't see how this list really matters. Tran and Diep may go to Minnesota, but they won't be delegats. McCain doesn't stand a chance.
"McCain doesn't stand a chance."
Really? Somebody's gotta win this thing, and the rest of the current crop seems pretty demoralizing, too.
On a happier note, if the nomination goes past a first ballot delegates might start jumping to an as yet unnamed hero emerging from the background.
I intend on voting for McCain on Feb 5. and will make sure that my entire household vote for him as well.
McCain have the same chance as any other candidate at this shot. At least he got a win under his belt. Can't same the same about Thompson or Romney.
