Supervisors Wrangle Over Process Of Replacing Carona

I tuned into the Board of Supes webcast too late to hear Assistant Sheriff/Acting Sheriff Jack Anderson's remarks, so I'll leave it to others to comment on them if any commentary is necessary. FYI, Sup. Bill Campbell is out of town, and Sup. Pat Bates was unable to make it to the meeting for a reason I haven't yet caught.
Board Chairman John Moorlach expressed his desire to form an ad hoc committee with Vice Chair Pat Bates to establish a search process, accept resumes until about Feb. 8 or 9 and act as a filter for those resumes, and then present what they felt were "reasonable" resumes to the full board for consideration.
Sup,. Nguyen raised the valid point that since this wasn't agendized, and since two supervisors were missing, perhaps this should be discussed and acted on at the Jan. 29 meeting when properly agendized and with all supervisors present.
County Counsel Ben DeMayo agreed with Sup. Nguyen that that would be the appropriate course.
Supervisor Norby disagreed, stating Chairman Moorlach was perfectly within his powers to establish an ad hoc committee now and move forward with the search process.
Nguyen came back and reiterated her point that this matter shouldn't be rushed into with two-fifths of the supervisors not present and preferred they direct staff to formulate a process and options and have it come back to the Board on the 29th.
Norby and Moorlach re-iterated their viewpoint in favor of getting the replacement process moving ASAP.
Now it's in public comments. I'm on pins-and-needles to hear what Darrell Nolta has to say.

Mike Carona, OC's Next Sheriff

Are you disparaging Darrell?
Darrell needs no help from me in that regard.
Bad Jubal!
What did Darrell say anyway??
It's a Nolta Nation!
