OC GOP Resolutions Committee Recommends "No Action" on Carona Resignation Resolution

The Resolutions Committee of the Orange County Republican Party met today to consider Cypress Councilman Mike McGill's resolution calling of Sheriff Mike Carona to resign. McGill argued in favor of it, obviously. Mike Schroeder made the argument against it.
The committee voted 5-1 in favor of taking no action on the resolution. That means if McGill wants to bring his Carona resignation resolution to the full Central Committee in late January, he'll first have to get an affirmative 2/3 vote to suspend the rules. And if he succeeded in obtaining that, he'd need another 2/3 affirmative vote to adopt the resolution.
Considering a weaker resolution failed to get a 2/3 vote to suspend the rules, the Carona resignation reso looks dead.
The Resolutions Committee then voted 4-2 to recommend that the full Central Committee take no action on the Carona matter until he has a trial.
More in a little bit...
UPDATE: Here's how the vote broke down among the Resolutions Committee members:
Marcia Gilchrist, John Branteck, Patricia Burns, H.B. Corcoran and Don Daucher voted in favor of take no action, while Sup Chris Nobry staffer Bruce Whitaker voted the opposite way.
On the second motion (by Daucher, I believe) recommending the full committee take no action, the vote was 4-2, with Corcoran joining Whitaker in opposition.

OCGOP: A Firestorm THAT WILL PASS!
Bravo OCGOP, Bravo! Thank you for for your support of Our Sheriff, Sheriff Michael Carona. The Firestorm generated lots of theatre amongst the usual suspects in Orange County politics, and now here in the common man’s relm. Our fallen comrade did not need any more finger-pointers.
An arrest and an arraignment are only pit stops in the judicial process. The "Facts" today are still only “allegations” and that the Sheriff retains the presumption of innocence during this Firestorm.
Sheriff Carona came in as Sheriff and gets to go out with his boots on. There cannot be any rush to judgement during this Firestorm. It must be done right. No opinion polls or votes of no confidence.
Stay Strong For Our Sheriff, Michael Carona.

It's good to be a Lemming......
Well done, Bruce W. The lemmings can head for the nearest cliff - and no one will miss them.
As for the GOP Central Committee, en masse, - well, it has managed to make itself utterly irrelavant on this. Nobody cares anymore what it thinks about Our Beloved Sheriff-on-paid-leave.
Headlights on - low beam.
Bill Hunt should be Sheriff of Orange County. His reform ideas make sense and on behalf of my family and friends throughout Orange County, we pray for his victory in this deserved seat of Sheriff. I have taught in the Orange Unified School District for 35 years, we think he is a great man for the job. Here is his website: www.billhuntforsheriff.com
I am not on any central committee's nor am I the husband of a democrat-RINO but I am a citizen on the street, so to speek. This GOP group has a reputation for taking care of its own above the best interst of people like me and it again proves that self interest runs amuck.
A little history. I voted for Corona. I never gave any of the others any real thought because I thought he was doing a good job. Then the bombshell, what is the whole deal about demoting soemeone who runs against you. I don't know Bill Hunt. I don't know if he would have made a better Sherrif. Doesn't really matter. What irked me in that situation is an official flexing thier power we gave them on opponents. Now some would say that's just politics. To me it is a disgrace and I lost all respect for Corona at that time so yes now I am a little biased.
Now we find that what Bill Hunt was say just might be right.
So that is still not important. Corona has become a lame duck sherrif who is making money when normal non-government job real people would have to move on. This GOP group, except the two that voted the other way, have proven again to be the party that is more concerned with image and not upsetting the power base than taking a stand. They refuse to take any action against Corona in the event he does not get jail time.
If anyone has info on the guy that ran against Corona and was then demoted please post it so those of us who feel a desire for justice can help him.
This is classic. They voted for a resolution to have no more resolutions. Why even have a resolutions committee? They're not going to do anything.
Schroeder has got most of the committee Jedi mind tricked on this issue. "These are not the droids you're looking for".
I hate to disillusion the Bill Hunt fans but word around OCSD is that his own people do not want him to be Sheriff. Why? Misogynist, arrogant, no quality administrative skills, old-school (and not in a good way), my-way-or-the-highway mentality. When doctors cut out a tumor, they cut out every part, they don't leave any for fear of further malicious growth. The Sheriff's Department needs leadership from outside itself if it hopes to regain any of the public's trust.
Won't get fooled again,
You're so full of it I can smell you from here! The rank & file endorsed Lt. Bill Hunt last time and they will endorse Bill Hunt again - real soon!
We don't want or need a L.A. Commander with the attitude that OCSD is nothing but a little bastard child down south.
We don't need a Commander who can't even train his own Deputies not to do a circular firing squad around an unarmed suspect in a car pumping over 120 rounds into the car, themselves and surrounding houses - Then, when the OIR report comes out citing inadequate training, disipline the very Deputies HE was negligent in training...just one of many skeletons in his closet.
We don't need a L.A. Commander who has chosen to live in O.C. all these years but couldn't care less about law enforcement here until an opportunity presents itself thanks to our own Lt. Bill Hunt having the intestinal fortitude to stand up and tell the public about the culture of corruption within the Carona Administration.
We don't need a L.A. Commander who has done nothing more than hold one news conference days before the election and then just ONLY recently, jump on Moorlach's OIR idea which Bill Hunt has had in his reform plan from the very first day he ran for Sheriff in the last election.
Bill Hunt is the best choice for Sheriff of Orange County. The "right" people dislike him which is further prove Bill is the one we need to restore integrity and trust to our Department.
Hey opportunist Candidate Ralph Martin need not apply, wouldn't get to uppity about what Won't get fooled again has to say because it is probably Galanski
