More On 5th Floor Double-Dipping

First District Supervisor Janet Nguyen
I confirmed this evening that Janet Nguyen is in the process of pulling an employee from the Health Care Agency to serve as her Deputy Chief of Staff, while leaving that employee on the HCA payroll.

Chris has a point. The Board already made an exception for Supervisor Nguyen by giving her a district office when a) no other Supervisor has a district office and b) the Board offices are already in the 1st District. Now she's going to raid other department budgets for staff?
Every supervisor gets an office budget. Each one ought to live within it. Exceptions like this one have a tendency to morph into standard operating procedure in the hands of more political supervisors seeking to bolster their operations and district presence.

So County departments can now push their agendas from directly inside a supervisor's office? And an elected can redirect County general fund money to support his or her political operation? Supervisor Norby was right to disclose this fishy arrangement publicly. Whether this is just inexperience (which seems to be the defining characteristic of the 1st District Supervisor's operation) or a deliberate end-run, in either case the County and its taxpayers lose when politicos devise novel ways to use public resources for their own benefit

It's not too late to throw our support behind an ACTUAL conservative. Our party loses when our members sacrifice our beliefs for political maneuvering.
I'm afraid that if the party does not throw their support behind Trung Nguyen, our hold on the 1st Supe District is FINISHED.
Then again, these silly donors have already turned a blind eye to every OTHER ridiculous move made by this over-ambitious girl, they'll probably just shrug this one off as well.

janet runs into a burning building and saves a kitten, she runs back into the building and saves a puppy, janet is criticized for allowing the kitten to run free while saving the puppy, janet is criticized for saving the kitten first....come on kids, this is getting very old
Janet started an illegal defense fund, Janet bought a flat screen TV, Janet opened a welfare office, Janet was behind that botched recall attempt of Trung Nguyen for the wrong office, Janet was penalized by the FPPC, now Janet is stealing money from the Health Care Agency.
