Janet's Fund 130 Allocations: ...And A Helping Of Pure Pork

But some of Janet's Fund 130 allocations are just pure pork, like this one:
Approve expenditure of $100,000 for a Historic Main Street entry arch gateway in Garden Grove for the Garden Grove Downtown Business Association, and direct Clerk of the Board to execute the submitted agreement between the County of Orange and the Garden Grove Downtown Business Association.
Why should county taxpayers spend $100K on a decorative arch for one-block of old storefronts in Garden Grove? Aren't Republicans supposed to be against corporate welfare, whether it's giant subsidies for agribusiness or little subsidies for a merchant association?
Doesn't it seem ironic that an association of business owners is asking the government to pay for the arch, which they want in order to attract more customers to their businesses? That, it seems to me, is something for which the Garden Grove Downtown Business Association should pay -- not the taxpayers of Orange County. That should be why business owners band together to form associations: working cooperatively to promote mutually beneficial commerce, not to cooperatively nuzzle at the government trough.

If the other Supes don't call her on this, they should turn in their conservative credentials.
We really need to purge the party of these Republicans who want to dole out a little less pork than the Democrats and think the law does not apply to them.
This is how we lost Congress and why our registration is down so much.
We used to be the party of compatince and integrity, but Republicans like Cunningham, Foley and Craig at the Federal level and Carona, Street and Janet at the local level have destroyed that.
I've never seen Trung Nguyen, Kermit Marsh or Carlos Bustamonte involved with anything like this.
We have better choices!
Janet took a low blow at Norby by leaking those divorced-and-drunk rumors to Art Pedroza. Maybe Norby should get some payback by blitzing her on this pork request.
Isn't Janet's brother in law president of the Main Street Merchant's Association or something.
Come on guys, stop acting all surprised. Everyone should know that this is her M.O.
Scratch my back....
We have to act surprised. Otherwise Janet will post some stupid comment about puppies and kittens.
what are the other supervisors' fund 130 projects?
oink, oink! Pork payback for political supporters and allies on GG Main Street. Janet Nguyen is a piece of work. That's okay. All of this will be exposed next June.
It looks like item number 19 was removed from the recommended action. Maybe, she'll use that money ($100,000 for a Historic Main Street entry arch gateway in Garden Grove for the Garden Grove Downtown Business Association) to repay the Health Care Agency Budget for the staff person she used "off the books."
Maybe that's the deal they'll work out. We'll see.
Janet:
Why you want to create one problem to another problems for yourself. Don't take the advices of
Tony and Nick. They know how to mickey mouse only. It will cost your seat in June 2008.
I'm sorry for a poor young girl.
Someone asked what did other Supervisors use their Funds on? Well, a quick search on the internet showed that Moorlach is fixing up the public restrooms in his district and Norby is paying for staff at the library.
