A Hefty Raise at Midway Sanitary

Posted by: Tomahawk | 12/21/2007 12:24 PM

Since there was such a strong interest in my last post on the pay raise OCSD Directors voted to give themselves, here is another look a similar agency, in regard to their recent salary increase.

This week the Midway City Sanitary District Board of Directors voted to raise their meeting stipend by 30%.

Which means their stipend will be increased from $198 to $260 per meeting.  According to staff, the last salary increase was in 2001.  Here is the result of the roll call vote:

TRUONG DIEP - NO
GRACE EPPERSON - YES
Al KRIPPNER - YES
JOY NEUGEBAUER - YES
MARGIE RICE - YES

At least one of them has some principles. Didn't Truong lead the way earlier in the year to oppose the fee increases as well? Good to see some young up-and-comers with fiscally conservative principles still.

Sign....more Republicans feeding at the trough of government. They are as bad as Congress. What happened to conservatives' principals? Can someone please bring back Republicans that believe in limited government?

The Captain said:

Go Truong....Benefit from the pay increase without the political fallout.

Good move.

I wonder if he'll follow his boss' move and pledge to donate it to charity.

With OC Sanitation District and Midway Directors having given themselves our tax money for their personal Christmas presents, one wonders who will be next at the trough?

OCTA? OCFA? SCAG? Toll Agencies?

Why is it that an elected or appointed official must abstain from participating in a vote if personal financial interest is involved, but they can vote to give themselves raises?

Government makes no sense!

"The Captain" must have a twisted vision and he need to be demoted. I am happy to see that Truong is becoming a good conservative republican.

And to think that Margie became a Republican and did not become fiscally conservative.

we all know it said:

Truonf Diep is head and shoulders above the rest of these clowns.

it's time for him to move on to bigger and better.

We need conservatives like that as city council members or Assemblymen.

Gosh is Trung Diep's back hurting yet from all that back slapping? And yes, is he going to actually take the raise he voted against? He is a constant figure at Westminster City Council meetings, hovering with Andy Quach and Tri Ta after meetings in their back offices. He's made friends with all the staff at the City and rumor has it he plans to run for city council this coming year. I guess all the Vietnamese "job hop" up the political ladders quickly with all those votes they get by running that "welfare" office in Little Saigon for years. (yes some other have done this too, let's see, Correa, Spitzer, to name a couple...)

I'm worried about all the other people they are stepping on in their quest for superiority.

Am I detecting a bad case of envy and jealousy here, tinged with a strong odor of racism, perhaps? Some folks say that your post exhibits a severe case of the "Red Eye" disease.

Read your post again and flesh out the Un-Christian insinuation you made in your writing. Welcome to the Land of Opprotunity for those who work hard and are willing to pull ahead, right?

RE: Anonymous 8:42 PM said:

Yeah, god forbid we corner an active politcal community for the Republican party.

What a bunch of jerks those Little Saigon Republicans are for moving up the political ladder and giving their community a voice in the political process.

And being freindly with the city staff on top of all of that.

Poster 8:42 PM -- Or should I say another "constant figure" or gadfly at the Westminster City Council meetings, because that's the only way you could know if Diep was there or not.

Personally,I believe hard working Truong will make a good councilman... and experienced leader Andy Quach has been great in serving the city as mayor-pro tem.

Tri Ta is also a honorable young man with big heart heading for the bright future.
Threfore,I am here to support all of them with happy heart.
