AD60: By The Numbers

Posted by: Jubal | 11/19/2007 2:37 PM

There will be three competitive Republican legislative primary battles next year: AD 71, AD 60 and SD33. These are three heavily Republican seats in which winning the GOP primary is tantamount to a general election victory. Red County/OC Blog already described the AD71 contest with by-the-numbers post of the basics of the campaign: candidates and their teams, registration and geographic distribution of GOP voters, etc. Now let's take a look at the 60th Assembly District.

The 60th Assembly District is currently represented by Bob Huff, who is eligible for one more term but is running for the 29th Senate District seat being vacated by termed-out GOP Senator Bob Margett. AD 60 straddles Orange, San Bernardino and Los Angeles counties and includes all or portions of Chino Hills, Diamond Bar, Anaheim, La Mirada, Orange, La Habra, Yorba Linda, Walnut, Whittier, Villa Park, La Habra Heights, San Dimas, and the fabulous City of Industry.

There are 126,752 GOP voters distributed as follows across the district:

City                                 Number of GOP Voters          % of AD71 GOP Voters

Anaheim                               17,244                                    25.14%

Orange                                         14,370                                    19.8%

Yorba Linda                                12,176                                    11.9%

La Habra                                       7,287                                      9.8%

Norco                                            5,732                                      4.5%

Tustin                                           1,766                                      1.4%

Anaheim                                        1,151                                      0.9%

Irvine                                               822                                      0.6%

Unincorporated Area (OC)                 747                                     00.3%

Unincorporated Area (RC)               5,658                                      4.46%

Approximately 71% of GOP voters are in Orange County versus 29% in Riverside County.
